Actually if you read the fine print then the Geneva Convention rules only apply to enemy combatants that relate to those from other nation-states, not to international criminal terrorists. Iraqi and Taliban prisoners enjoy protection, terrorists do not.

Every time someone new steps in to this forum it is deja vu all over again.

And Iraqi civilians are terrorists because the US says so?

Sorry for jumping the gun with my previous post.

I have read the entire thing, and as long as you have a nationality and are labeled an enemy combatant you are safe, which pretty much includes all terrorists with a citizenship anywhere, this includes all of the prisoners to date.

Why did he wait roughly 7 months after taking office, until after an attack on the united states to begin his quest to do this?

Oh, I dunno... To PLAN something? It's Bush's fault 9/11 happened...OH, I FORGOT....

Yes there seems to be plenty of evidence that this whole operation was carefully planned for months before 9/11.

I never said 9/11 was Bush's fault; any potential argument over whether it could have been prevented by the American government is totally irrelevent to the fact that they did nothing about terrorism at all before 9/11. And even at that it still wouldn't have been caused by Bush - ultimately it was caused by Al Qaeda, and the reasons for Al Qaeda existing are probably too complicated to ever sort out completely.

Terror may be a priority now, but for Anne to state that it was a burning priority for Bush when he took office is pure hogwash. There is however at least some evidence that finding a reason to attack Iraq was in Bush's plan all along.

In 1979, President Jimmy Carter allowed the Shah of Iran to be deposed by a mob of Islamic fanatics. A few months later, Muslims stormed the U.S. Embassy in Iran and took American Embassy staff hostage.

Carter retaliated by canceling Iranian visas. He eventually ordered a disastrous and humiliating rescue attempt, crashing helicopters in the desert.
Wow! Impressively twisted logic and distortion but at least she writes in complete sentences.

Reagan ordered a heart-stopping mission to capture the hijackers after "the allies" promised them safe passage. In a daring operation, American fighter pilots captured the hijackers and turned them over to the Italians ? who then released them to safe harbor in Iraq.
Who's heart stomped?

I don't see why people think Dick Clarke did nothing. That guy was actually pretty viscious in his own right. You just did not hear or see what he did. It wasn't all bombing baby food factories and all that nonsense when he was around.

Exactly! These people were not tortured just for the hell of it. If it means we have to torture people associated with groups that blow up American's so be it, if even a singleinnocent life can be saved, in my eyes it'd be worth it.

Get your head out of your ass. The innocent people that were abused are no more important than Americans. Since when did we become the most important people in the world, don't be so stuck up and ignorant.
