Bush Backing Down? You Happy? *Bush NOT Backing Down*

UNITED NATIONS ? Less-than-damning assessments of Iraq's cooperation by the chief U.N. weapons inspectors coupled with massive worldwide protests against a possible war have sent the United States and Britain back to the drawing board.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, diplomats said U.S. and British officials are toning down a draft resolution, and that the final version may not explicitly call for war...

That's too bad; in this case, all this does is give Saddam more time to strike first. 🙁
Keep on brown nosing Bush & eat up everything that your administration feed to you (see Vietnam War).

It is often the bully/victor that write the history book. Therefore the oppressor could very well see themselves as the person that is doing the right thing even those the rest of the world might disagree.

The REAL War Monger

I was listening to ABC Radio "Perspective" this morning and they say that smug little creep is actually very intelligent and has us by the balls. He has threatened to turn Seoul, South Korea into a "sea of fire" many times and .... and................................ :| :| is said to have planned and helped carry out the bombing of a South Korean Airliner killing 100+ people just to cause problems for South Korea when the Olympics were in Seoul

The s;how said that there is nothing we can do to him militarily because it will cause too much devestation in the region.... 🙁

Why are we even bothering trying to get UN approval.

This is ridiculous. The UN is a useless organization and we don't need them to beat Iraq into submission.

Our military is already there, all Bush has to do is say "go", but instead he keeps playing these UN games. Why?

Well, according to Bush the reason we are going there is because of the UN. We are waiting to Iraq to be in violation of a UN resolution, but as time passes, he keeps on NOT failing to make the grade. Saddam's peace mongering seems to be frustrating Bush, who has tried and tried to come up with other excuses, only to fall flat on his face. The most embarrasing IMO was the report by Powell which turned out to have 10 year old evidence and was plagarized from somebody's thesis.

how many more resolutions will the UN pass for saddam to disarm? we should just say to hell with it all and start the damn war.

Why should we start the war? Iraq has been in compliance with the new stricter resolution passed back in October or so. The inpsectors keep giving them passing grades. The US claims they have evidence that Iraq is in violation, but refuse to give that info to the inspectors, who said they could go straight to the problem spots if they had the info and the chase would be over, and the UN would follow the US's lead. Why then dont we share the evidence?

where have you been for the past two months. Nearly everyone in the administration has been giving proof that Iraq is in violation of resolution 1441.

I say start the war and make irrelevant this kangaroo court called the United Nations.

I havent heard that. Point out where they are in violation:

Resolution 1441

If you have some sort of link that points out what section they are in violation of that would be easier.

Edit: the only "violation" Im aware of is "unaccounted for" weapons. The reason the US claims they are "unaccounted for" is becuase Iraq has no "proof" they destroyed it. The US says Iraq must provide proof, but the UN resolution makes no such claims. How do you provide proof that somehting no longer exists other than inspections? Its a red herring by the Bush Administration.
