Lay off the drugs infected mushroom. Everyone thought the earth was flat a thousand years ago, if they thought about it at all that is.
People still had alot of knowledge back then even if they did not know everything. It certainly doesn't say the world is flat in the Bible.

But the Bible says we should Burn Massachusettes to the ground right?

The Church was very happy to prosecute Copernicus and Galileo for saying the earth is not flat and not the center of the universe.
The Church today seems happy to say today that gay unions are not good.

what if the church is wrong again? can you even consider that possibility? if you can't, then there's nothing we can talk about since you obviously can't think for yourself.

Glad to see Bush is so obviously combating the Muslim perception of current events resembling the Crusades. Moron.

The only thing those two should have been discussing is headway against child molestation in the Church. Short of that, I hope that senile old coot told Bush to kiss his geriatric hump.

Maybe he can seek a constitutional ammendment to classify all Democrats as Witches and have them burned at the stake?

All the presidents have met with the pope as far back as I can remember (which isn't that long).
As our leader he should take into consideration the concerns of the Catholic church sine that is a large part of the public.
Catholic and Christian values align in many key areas.

I agree but instead of bending his policies for the church, hes pleading the church to bend their views for him.

No, it says he asked the church to promote socially conservative values more aggressively.
The Catholic church is already promoting these values in its sermons.
I was at a High Mass last month and the priest made strong points about
gay sex, gay marriage, contraception, and abortion.
Kerry may be Catholic but he is not opposing any of these issues.
I think it is clear alot of Catholics who are likeminded on these issues are going to have to put alot of thought into voting for Bush.

Okay, lets say you're right. With the above true, what would warrant Bush to say "Not all the Bishops are with me"?

Copernicus lived from 1473 to 1543.
Copernicus lived most of his life as an employee of the Catholic church and was never prosecuted by the church for anything. Concerning Galileo well the Catholic church which he was an adament supporter of as a Catholic himself made a mistake with him which the Pope admitted to.
The Catholic church is wrong about many things but only the things which they believe which are not backed up in the Bible such as Saint worship and Mary worship the belief that the Earth is flat etc.
Since Galileo andCopernicus were both Catholics one might also say that Catholics were the ones who figured out that the world was revolving around the sun.

A Vatican official privy to discussions between Bush and Cardinal Angelo Sodano, secretary of state to Pope John Paul II, said Bush "complained that the U.S. bishops were not being vocal enough in supporting him on social issues like gay marriage and abortion."

The Vatican official said that Bush, a Methodist, asked Sodano to "push the bishops to become more actively involved" in promoting those issues that are part of his social agenda. The official said Sodano did not respond to Bush's request.

AFIC, when it comes to U.S. elections, the Pope should STFU! :|

Why don't you have such an objection to Islamic influence on Middle Eastern governments?
Read my post, and you'll see that I agreed with you. I said, "terrorists from both sides..." You're welcome to extend that to any religious zealots who want to impose their belief system on others by force of arms or governmental policy.

The Pope is the current leader of that fine group of terrorists who brought you the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition, as well as actively hiding child molesters for decades. I could rant about the evil done in the name of almost every religion. I wouldn't have singled him out, but his meeting with Bush-lite was the topic of this thread.
