Bush ain't Hitler... he's a Hirohito

I was thinking of him as, if anything, closer to the unqualified royalty that ran governments prior to (and caused) WWI

ie, a democracy is supposed to be a filtering process for talent. A leader must have the capabilities to be extremely successful in the 'real world' in order to rise to office.

Not really so with Bush. Although some of our greatest presidents have had some degree of lineage to the office.

Bush is a dull boy being used by Cheney, Rumsfeld and others to "fix" America, per the last 40 years of right-wing whining, bitching and fear mongering.

I always laugh at the Bush is Hitlet references. If anything, all Bush is a frontman, being fed his administration and actions by people behind the scenes. He seems very patriotic, and would therefore, speaking from opinion only, be easy subtitle to suggestions that are veilied in a context to make it seem like it threatend America. Now in now way am I a doctor of physch, this is just opinionated observations. 🙂

I always wonder exactly how much Bush really is doing. I mean, when McCain was getting his prisoner amendment passed, Bush kept saying how we don't abuse prisoners, but who was running around trying to get exemptions?

I think that the best comparison of Hitler would be other European political entities. Hitler is thoroughly European and his beliefs are still wildly popular (even though he himself may not be but he is becoming a more popular folk hero). The support for concentration camps, mass racism, hatred of minorities (ethnic and religious groups), supremacy, etc. are more in line with current European groups and leaders. Also, Hitler is widely associated with a genocide while Bush is one of the few leaders trying to stop one (in Sudan).

I agree that Bush shouldn't be compared to Hitler at all, but I don't think anyone in power right now remotely compares to Hitler...

I think when you get to the level of being compared to Hitler (genuinely, not the stupid "omg Hitler" reference you see thrown around so haphazardly), your actions stand alone pretty well. People like Stalin or Mao don't need a comparison to prove how horrible they were.

You are correct. It is totally unfair to compare GW Bush to Hitler. Hitler was a veteran of 4 years of combat and won the equivalent to the Medal of Honor. On the other hand, both Bush and Hitler rose well above their incompetetance levels.
