The latest CNN poll lists Bush ahead of Gore, 50% to 42%, with Nader at 4% and Buchanan negligible. What happened to all those lefties overjoyed about Gore's lead last week? ;)

Full story is here.

Wrong, all wrong -- obviously the work of the Republican Radical RightWing puppet masters...

Heh. Interesting -- I'd check it out if my connection weren't so damn slow. :| I wonder what's swinging the latest poll?

There's an interesting graph <Edited out>. It shows the poll numbers since the beginning of September plotted continuously. Gore was ahead in the Oct 2-4 period, by about 11 points, and then the lines for Bush and Gore switch themselves around to the current numbers. Seems that the debate may have not been as positive for Gore as we first thought.

<edit> The link didn't work, sorry. It's at the bottom of the page, labeled "COMPLETE TRACKING TREND ON HORSE RACE".

The polls are meaningless no matter who they show in the lead.

Bush will win, but it has nothing to do with a snapshot of voter thought at a moment in time a month before the election.

I think it's the integrity issue. Gore's percieved making up facts as he goes along. Now Gore is countering with asserting that Bush isn't smart enough to be president, pointing to several verbal miscues.

I don't think it will work very well. Most voters are not as capable as either candidate. Attaking Bush's speaking flaws may backfire. Remember the average IQ is 100... and the nation is sensitive about lying presidents. I still think I can see Clintons nose grow when he talks about Monica...

How? Can you peek under that blindfold?;)

Most polls ahave it statistical dead heat still. Bush got a boost from Cheney. Lets see if it holds after Wed. debate. Should be good.

I don't understand these polls. How many people here have participated in a poll? I doubt anyone, at least anyone who has a job!

I didn't say that I put anymore faith into this poll then the ones last week where Gore was leading, becaues I don't. However, I did find it interesting that all those heralding the triumph of Gore, based on poll numbers, over a month before the election are suddenly quiet. More proof that you can't trust the polls.

PG,

I've been called once. After they identified themselves as a polster, they asked if I leaned Conservative or liberal. I answered Conservative. They hung up.
