Kindergarden was a 0.1 mile walk to the bus stop.
First grade was a 0.2 mile walk to the bus stop (most days) or a 1.3 mile walk when the bus wasn't running.
Second grade was a 0.6 mile walk to school in nice weather or a 0.2 mile walk to the bus stop.
Third-fifth grade was a 0.2 walk to the bus stop or a 1.3 mile walk/bike ride.
Sixth-eighth grade was a 0.75 mile walk/bike ride, no buses.
High school was a 0.2 to 1.6 mile walk to the bus stop, depending on whether the suburb I lived in was in a pissing match with the mother city over bus service. Biking to school was about 6.5 miles each way and was the fastest way to get to school when the weather allowed. In winter, I could save about an hour in travel time by walking 2 miles across a frozen lake to catch the bus.

Back when I was a kid, me and my brother have to walk 30+ mins, 10 of those uphill, to our middle school.

In high school we walked almost 50 mins. Kids these days have it easy.

The elementary school in my neighborhood had so many complaints about drivers speeding that they had several motorcycle cops issuing tickets. Most of tickets were issued to parents speeding off to work after dropping off their kids...then they were complaining about that.

Other people's kids are just speedbumps
