While Quebert and everyone else is entitled to their opinion, the fact of the matter is their stock price is through the roof. That means they are making shit tons of money, which means plenty of people like their food, which means Quebert is a very small minority of people who do not like Chipotle.

Only bland if they don't know how to prepare it. The best burrito I've ever had was just meat and cheese. Properly marinated Carne Asada needs nothing else to be delicious. In every Chipotle thread I'm told by at least 2 or 3 people the reason my burritos there are bland is because I don't get enough on them. Which makes me laugh. I don't get a lot on my burritos anywhere. People go to Chipotle and they literally get everything they offer on 1 to make it to where it's not a bland, boring disaster.

Well, all i can conclude is that you must have been licking an open flame at a younger age or something, and fried off all your tastebuds. If you can't eat their meat and find it flavorful, then there is something wrong up there.

I use their recipe for chicken and serve it quite often--it's extremely simple: canned chipotles in adobo sauce, blended with cilantro, salt, lime juice and cooking oil. marinate whole chicken thighs for several hours/ overnight then grill on open flame.

that is all they do, and I do this at events if I have some chicken that needs to be cooked, and everyone loves the hell out of it. Don't know what to say, man.

McDonald is WTF popular
Olive Garden's popular
KFC's popular

people apparently will go ape shit over practically anything.

Justin Beiber's one of the most popular singer out right now, do you like him? If not that means you're in the small minority of people who don't like him. Or like Chipotle, the majority of people actually don't like him, but both have enough followers to be wildly successful. It doesn't take anywhere close to a majority of people liking something for it to be popular and make money.

Chipotle = Justin Beiber.

well, you just don't know your frankfurter/hotdog history. Mustard is the only condiment allowed.

unless you are a communist. Are you a communist?

The only reason people put ketchup on them, now, is because decades ago, Heinz wanted to sell their ketchup along with their ghastly version of mustard. Marketing--pure marketing. nothing more. They did the same thing to fried potatoes (vinegar only, please!)

Sauerkraut is a condiment and that is acceptable on hotdogs!

Also, mayonnaise is only edible with fries.

Worst place ever, no. But if given the choice between it and someplace else I'll chose the other burrito place almost every time.

that is great news, thanks for the information!

i wonder if people in this thread realize that you are allowed to enjoy more than 1 type of burrito place. like, it's okay to like chipotle and like other places too. i'm just checking because many of the people in this thread seem to think that you aren't allowed to like more than 1 place at the same time.

Fresh is great, but it and taste don't always go hand in hand. My neighbor grows Tomatoes, I tasted one fresh off the vine and they absolutely sucked. Congrats to Chipotle for using somewhere around 60% "fresh" and "GMO free" shit in their food. It doesn't mean it still isn't bland and crappy.

I mean, it tastes exactly like it looks. Beans, cheese, meat, veggie/salsa. Are you saying you just don't like burritos?

Wrong! You're only allowed one burrito from one place for the rest of your life! Choose wisely.

That's a confusing statement, if that's all that matters than why eat at an expensive place like Chipotle when you can get beans, cheese, meats & veggies/salsa in a tortilla for half the price elsewhere? The exact same ingredients will taste different from place to place.

Because they cook them for you? When I'm at work, I don't have access to a grill, as it turns out. Do you?

And yes, using the same ingredients, I feel I could make a burrito taste approximately the same.

The Chipotle by me is right next to an Olive Garden, both have lines out the door from opening to closing. This pretty much verifies my theory that anything popular's shit.

Yet you have no problem eating at the popular Carl's Jr. and JITB: http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=36019469&postcount=11

Or the admittedly-popular Taco Bell: http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=36016186&postcount=1

This pretty much verifies my theory that anything you say about food (or anything in general, really) is shit.

wrg to hotdogs/frankfurter--sauerkraut can be used as a topping/condiment, sure; but sauerkraut very much is its own dish.

It's a staple dish, in fact. One of the greatest food items to be discovered by humanity.

no one eats ketchup alone. or mayonnaise, or mustard...as independent dishes.

well, except for maybe communists. :hmm:

It also means that any independent, highly popular, super authentic food truck with lines around the block, is, therefore, shit in Quebertnomics.

In one hand, you claim to have the best version of x in an area, that locals recognize and appropriately patronize in great numbers, therefore it is great. Yet another model, that is equally popular by virtue of national franchises, is obviously shit.

Everyone knows that popularity is no indicator of quality--but to use that as a singular judgement of the validity of everything popular is infantile.

popular's okay if it's priced right. At TB I can get 5 of the burritos I eat there for the same price as 1 at Chipotle. AT JiTB I get a burger, 2 tacos, fries and a drink for less than 1 item at Chipotle. None of the places you mentioned would be on my radar if I had to pay as much as Chipotle costs. If Chipotle cost about $2.50 it would be worth recommending. TB's not great tasting, but it's also not expensive, so it's a reasonable choice when you want Fast Food. If I had to pay Chipotle prices to eat at TB I'd never go there and would hate on it every bit as much as Chipotle.

Alright, so quantity over quality, got it.

Not at all, quantity over quality only when you want to eat cheap. Chipotle fails on both fronts. I mean I guess it's "quality" but it's tasteless so I don't care that they use hand picked cilantro.

You're right. Lava sauce and nacho cheese certainly does add flavor to a burrito.

Two times I've had Chipotle, two times the burritos were bland, lacked decent flavor, both times self called Chipotle experts got me what they said was good. It seems they usually have these where there's no real Mexican food which makes sense why people think it tastes good.
