Burnt Thunderbird 1.33GHZ =(((

I just bought myself the new thunderbird 1.33ghz CPU and abit kt7a raid motherboard....... I have 2 maxtor diamond max 40, and a dvd-rom..... My video card is ati all in wonder 128 (temporarily until my geforce2 ultra arrive)..... I started put the part together and I found some problems...... I used copper shim and alpha 6035 with delta fan.......... after everything is hook up, I power up the computer and everything seems to work ok...... but the bios have said error check sum or something like that....... then I get in the bios and starting adjust all the option until I get to the pc health status and see that my processor is running high....... Then I remember I forget to connect the processor fan, I pull out the power cord and then plug the cable......... after that It will boot again with the same error message as before but after changing my processor to 10 X 133fsb , my computer will not boot at all.......
no beeb no nothing....... my screen just blank and then went to saving mode.......... then I clear the bios and reboot..... It work again with the same error code..... now i tried to reboot it without changing the cpu, just the Ide drive....... and the computer did the same thing....... it reboot and nothing else pop ups...... I am very stump...... I though abit and thunderbird 1.33 capable of 1.5ghz, I dont understand why is mine will not even boot at 1.33ghz?? If there is anything I miss?? Btw when the fan on my processor is not on, there is no smell or antying, I turn the power off in less than 1 minutes...........I disassembly everything right now and the cpu seems fine there is no sign of being burnt or crack...... Can someone out there help me??

Just figured something out.......... I pull everything out and put it back in again, and the system will boot....... but then again, I get this error message, CPU- is unworkable of have been change, please check Soft CPU menu III ........... I already flash the bios with the most recent one in abit web page, and now I se the multiplier on my computer as 10 X 133/33 My processor is thunderbird 1.333 revision C........ But everytime I save the setting, my computer just wont boot no more......... but, If at the bios post, I press F1, everything boots alrigh but, my processor only running 1000mhz.......... got any clue anyone??

try the chip in a different mobo, sounds like you ABIT might be a bit dodgy

i have no problem overlocking upto 1.55 ghz
so i dont see why u cant go higher

could also be a bad board, might wanna RMA it, and get a replacement.

Did you disable speed error hold? Also copper shims are known to touch the resistors on the cpu & screw things up-try it without the shim. What are the markings on the chip? Are you sure you got a 1.33C? Are you using pc133 memory? Finally are you using an approved AMD power supply?

I had some stability problems !
but they went away when I reduced the voltage of my cpu -0.05 volts from the standard...
why this have appened?
I have a duron 800 via kt133

Heat is the issue "powervr2" I would think...?

Update, I put my processor in Iwill kk266 mobo and I can sucessfully overclock it to 1.5GHZ run prime95 for 6 hours, and at 7th hours prime reported an error..... dunno why........ So what do you think readers?? Definately not the processor, could it be the mobo?? What do you think is better anyway for overclocking?? abit KT7A-R or Iwill KK266-R?? and btw what is 50 degree celcius consider hot for and AMD 1.33 overclocked to 1.5ghz with pal6035??

hey "powervr2" hat mobo you have? If you have MSI KT-7 Pro2 It overvolts. Mine is set to 1.725 but when I run MBM 5 it says it is giving proc 1.81. Crazy stuff

Be sure you have the cpu fan plugged into header #1. The computer will not boot properly on the new KT7A motherboards if you plug it into header #2 or if it is not plugged in. Just check to be sure. They are right next to each other.
