Burnt HL cd won't work, even with valid cd key

About a year ago, I got Half-Life. I played it for a while, and then stopped playing. I wanted to play again recently, so I was going to reinstall it. I couldn't find my HL cd, so I had a friend burn me a copy. I still have my original CD key, from a retail box in a store (I still have the cd case, just no cd).

I install it, everything goes fine. Then when I go to play a game, it asks me to put in the HL cd, so I put in the burnt cd, and it says "Can't validate Half Life". I really don't want to buy another copy of HL, so is there any hacks or anything that you can use to get around this problem? I am 100% sure that no one is using my cd key, too.

All help will be appreciated.

earch the Internet for gamecopyworld... you'll find a solution.

Just watch out for all the porno sites that have that word listed (you'll be suprised at the number)!

burn the game with CDRWIN.
I had a problem like the one you have, with StarCraft.
Used CDRWIN and it worked like a champ

Hahaha...

Phone Sierra and get a replacement CD. Most game publishers will do this for you, if you can prove that you really did buy it. You really did buy it didn't you? :Q

Well, my dad bought it for me for my birthday over a year ago. I have the retail box with the upc code and everything. But I don't have the receipt. Anyways, I tried a million different no cd hacks, and I couldn't get CS to work online :( So I'm just going to go buy a new copy of HL. Bah, Sierra the leechers. :(

Seriously, if you really did buy it, you should phone Sierra. I've had game publishers send me new disks before, but they might ask you to send them the jewel case or game manual or something. You'd have to wait a while to get it, but it might be a better option than buying the game again.

Good luck

Try burning it onto a 700Mb CD-R. I heard that Half-Life is overburned (beyond 650 Mb).

Yes, you need an 80 min CD for copying Half-Life. BTW, you didn't go to gamecopyworld.com, did you Peppy?

Ya have to update it to a newer version, then it works!!
Just keep your own key to yourself for online use.
