BurnProof question

Like most everyone else in this forum I bought one of the Iomega 12X/10X/32X CD-RW drives and made the firmware upgrade to v1.07 with no problem. Drive works beautifully. I see comments in several threads about testing BurnProof and even mention of turning BurnProof off and on, but I can't find anything related to BurnProof in the properties or in the software boxes. How does one test to see if BurnProof is actually working or not? One of the threads mentioned changing the size of the HD buffer in BurnProof -- which implies that somewhere one should be able to open a BurnProof box. Thanks for the help.

I have the plextor 12/10/32 and i don't think there is anyway to turn burnproof off and on but you can specify whether or not to use it. BTW, it should always work no matter what your doing although i dont know why you would want to turn it off. It is really a tech that doesn't allow buffer underrun errors by stopping the creation process.

You can tell the burning program if you want to use it or not. I know it nero when you're burning, it says burn-proof activated.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't want to turn BurnProof off, but was concerned with whether it was running or not since I kept seeing comments suggesting that if it was there would be a control box where you could change HD buffer size, turn BurnProof off and on etc. Since I didn't see anything of this sort, I wondered if BurnProof was active on my system.

I have copied a couple of CDs using the Iomega version of Adaptec's EZ CDCreator. Burn went fine -- but again I saw nothing to indicate that BurnProof was present, or if it was that it was alive and well.

It is conceivable -- given the large number of members who bought the Iomega drive -- that the answer to the question I originally posed will be of interest to others. I couldn't load Nero since I have the Adaptec software loaded, but after I made the ID string change I could load PlexTools in a slightly roundabout way and it provides the answer. At the Plexor site you will find the upgrade to PlexTools v1.07 (which is what you want) in a four different languages. These are not standalone versions as I learned when I tried to run the *.exe file. It reports it did not find PlexTools and I could not find the standalone PlexTools software on the Plexor site.
PlexTools
has v1.03 in a standalone file. Download it and if you have changed your ID string to Plexor it will install with no problem. Then upgrade to v1.07 from the Plexor site. On the settings tab will appear the BurnProof with a check box where you could turn it on or off if you wish. Mainly though it confirms that BurnProof is alive and well in your installation.

You can tell that it's working by running winamp or some other power hungry program while burning a cd and see if the burning process stops and then restarts when you stop winamp.

I am using Nero version 5.0.1.8 with the zipCD. It does not detect the drive. I know that the drive works b/c i used adaptec directCD to erase a cd-rw. What is wrong with it? Help....

I just purchased the plexster 12x10x32a and i was wondering what burning software are you useing to burn various cd's. Are you useing the software that comes with the drive 'Adaptec' or would you suggest others

Thankyou

Upgrade to the latest version of Nero.

The latest version will recognize the IoMega drive.

I went and changed the ID to the Plextor 1210A and applied the 1.07 firmware from my 1.06.

Works great.
