burning programs for the mac

I was looking for a burning program for the mac. i want to burn some data cds. I was wondering if there are any free burning programs for the mac. Also if there are any trail versions that would be fine too.
 
I think you're SOL buddy. My GF's usb burner came w/ soem cheap PC software & Roxio Toast for the Mac. It never worked on her Mac though. I have never seen much free software for the Mac, let alone burning software. If you check our roxio.com they might have a demo version.
 
Roxio Toast is just about the only thing available for burning CD's on a Mac, and it sure isn't free.

Nero was/is supposed to come out with a Mac version, but they won't make a demo/eval version available for it anyway.

There is barely any free software out there for Macs, remember most Mac users don't have a clue how their computer works, let alone have a clue how to write software for it.
 
You might want to download iTunes from apple for burning music cd's in either OS9 or X.

I do believe that data cd's can be burned directly from OSX.

Toast is the easiest/best (no demo versions)

I think Nero did put out a apple version but it wasn't very good. I couldn't even find it on their web site!

There is probably a half dozen other burning programs available for the mac. Just do a search in google.
 
do you know where in os x the burning program is. i have a windows machine but the burner is screwed up. i also am building a new computer in a couple of weeks. just want to burn some data cds in the mean time on the mac
 
Apple has built cd burning into the OS lately. It's not the most full-featured, but it's free. There are two ways I know of to use it:

1. Stick in a cdr or rw and it will detect and mount it. Drag files to the CD, eject and it asks if you want to burn it to the CD. Kinda like the built-in packet writing on WinXP, but I think it can finalize the disk.

2. Use Apple's DiskCopy program. Use it to create images of the CDs you want, then use it to burn the images to cdr.

Even though these can work, Toast is probably one of the best/easist burning programs.
