Burning Man

I have wanted to go to this for a few years now, but for one reason or another I can never seem to swing it, and this year is no different. It makes me sad.

Anyone going? Anyone have stories from past years?

I'd like to go to that someday.

But I'll go to goneMOAB next year rather than this :p

Our camp is called Chai-Khana (which stands for Tea-Room), and we'll be serving tea. We have an official schedule posted on what music we'll be playing every night, and when tea is served. I believe it's on burningman.com

We'll be located at 9:00 and Fairlane. You can recognize our camp by a huge teapot and a psychedelic tree.
This is how it looks at night: Text

Also, we'll have an American Dream installation somewhere very close to the Man. It's going to be a hanging map of US (glows at night, of course) with a twist to it :) You'll see.

It's an experience.
I could tell you it's sex, drugs and rock'n'roll, but that would be a lie.

Alright... that didn't really clear anything up, but it's all good. :p

Hippies in the desert celebrating life in every way that they know how. The grand finale is a pyrotechnics show that involves a huge man "burning". Also tits.

I think it turned into one of those things that people want to check out. I don't fit into any of Burning Man's demographics, but I seriously want to see how fun it can be.

The only thing it covers is your entry to the event :) Nothing else.

You have to bring everything with you from water and food to clothes and shelter. You provide the entertainment for others, and they provide it for you. No money of any kind can be exchanged. The only exception is ice which is sold by organizers, and coffee/little drinks at Central camp. Only barter exchange is allowed.

It's quite an expensive endeavor if you put effort into it, but satisfaction is immense. Some artists get grants from BM foundation to help them offset the costs of their art installations.

It's the overgrown version of was once a bonfire beach party at Ocean Beach in San Francisco.
Until just recently it was held in SF, at the beach, until they decided to go uber-corporate in the desert.
I can always tell it's time to play on the playa when all these wacky vehicles go through Sacramento, being towed by veggie oil Volvos, stuffed with camping gear. Can be only one.

Until recently? It was on the beach for 86 to 99, and at the playa for the last 18 years.
