Burning hot! tdk 24x burner for $57 at BB, no rebates!

Darn it I just bought a 52X cd drive replacement for $30 at staples, I could Have payed about a little more and have gotten this awesome burner. Grrr!
 
I was at BB to pick up my X-men DVD I ordered using the most recent $5 BB e-mail coupon. I "wandered" over to the burner/video cards as I ALWAYS do when at BB just to see what selling for what at retail and any possible open box bargains.

Low and behold a whole shelf of these. There were three BB guys standing around talking about how all the employees were picking these up and how the day before thet price was $149.99.

So I was like, "give me two" and another guy laughed and said Get' em while there hot, these will be gone in an hour. So I got two 🙂

Also - I had already oredered one over at CC and was going to pick it up. They wouldn't price match because they said the price is already the same the rebate (1 rebate for $50 and a price adjustment of -$20). I said well that's a little misleading isn't it, since your price is still $149.99 without the rebates. And you advertise that you'll match or beat any documented competitors price.

She look right at me ( and actually she was pretty hot) but anyway, she said, if we pricematch this to BestBuy you'll send in this $50 rebate and get this drive for less than $10 and we aren't going to do that, and that was that.

So that SUCKS!!!



But I bought it anyway, I still have many UPC's even if I should decide to return one to CC at some point soon in the future... 🙂

By the way - I added all my rebates up from 2001 and my documented recieved total is $1,070. Not to shabby!

I just bought one from my local CC today!

Anyway, I'll go BB and see what's going on there tomorrow.
 
I saw this, rushed to my local BB and this chic had the last one in her hands. The sales clerk was going to take it to the register to make sure the sign was correct. Pissed me off. He checked onhands on the computer for other stores in the DFW area and said there were none to be found and their warehouse was out.
 
OOS in Spokane Valley, WA. Although they said there's a shipment due Wednesday and to check back then....

I will also confirm the BB price now at $59.97. I was at CC early this morning to get a price adjustment on the TDK I bought last night and get another for a "friend". Then went to BB just to look around. The only TDK they had was still $129.99. I log in tonight and find this. Got my little butt out to BB ASAP but they are out. Went to CC to price match and got the same story about how they can't do that, so they resell it to me for the $59.97 price but take back my rebate coupons. Duh, don't they know they know there are coupons on the website?

Not too shabby at all, but doesnt that also mean that you have spent well over $1,070?
 
OK, lemme ask you folks about this, then. BB also has an LG 16x writer for $49 after two MIR. That seems almost as good, but I know little about the quality of LG writers.

Thought I would be the bomb and find the rebate form somewhere on TDK. Got further than I did before when I tried that and came up with a phone # to call about the rebate form, then I found the following....

"Unfortunately, we cannot supply rebate forms for the veloCD. Each of these rebate forms is account-specific. Only the retailer you purchased your drive from will be able to supply you with a valid form. Please contact that retailer directly for your rebate form."

Well, south Bay stores are out of stock: Milpas and San Carlos stores were OOS and I picked up the last one in East Palo Alto BB. 🙂 You might try your luck in Marin BB or in East Bay, but all your South Bay BB bases are mine 🙂
 
Has anyone checked the Lakewood, CA store or the Westminister, CA store? Any availability? Too lazy to get off my arse and go check 🙂

I went to BB for the LG burner this morning a couple of minutes after BB opened the door. To my surprise, neither the LG burner nor other burners is on the shelves, they are almost empty. What is going on with BB and CD burners? is the price of burners going to be free falling?

Man best deal for a SWEET drive Ive seen in a long time.
I bet BBY catches the mistake tomorrow, obviously someone messed up on the match with CC's deal with rebate.
Btw, they are now OOS at all Indpls metro stores.
