Burning files to work in normal dvd player

ow do i burn a .wmv file or .avi file onto a dvd+r so it can work in normal dvd players?

Convert the video to MPEG2 and the audio to 48Khz.

FYI, DivxtoDVD is a good AVI to DVD converter.

Should be noted that not every DVD player will read DVD- or + discs. Strange as it sounds, the more expensive it is, the less likely it is to read them. Especially true if it's a few years old.

Is there a program that not only converts it but you can also customize your dvd like add a main menu and everything? Does nero make something for that?

Nero Vision is what does all that, I think. The latest Nero will certainly do it. I almost remember 5 and 6 doing it as well.

Old versions didn't have editing functions but I'm not sure about the new one. I was using an mpg cutter program to edit and split the files before starting Nero and creating the menus.
