Burning Data DVD's

Hey guys, how do I burn just normal data onto a dvd to use it for storage? Not a movie or anything, but just data? What programs and stuff do you use?

I only have DVD decrypter and it won't select the data files that I want to burn to dvd. Do I have to create a new file out of my data files to burn it to dvd? Is DVD Decrypter capable of this? Or should I go out and find some freeware that'll let me burn data dvds?

that program only "decrypts" the dvds. i dont believe it has a burn function built it. go to download.com. youll find a free burning software in no time.

I believe you can just drop the files you want into the drive in Explorer window and Windows will burn it for you (WinXP).

I use dvdshrink (http://dvdshrink.org) to make a DVD iso file. Its normally 4.7 GB or less. Then I use Roxio Platinum 6 or Nero Ultra 6 to burn the iso to a dvd.
(They were worth the money.)

For misc. files, I use Roxio's classic creator (creator classic??). I like the interface and it always makes discs I can read on other computers. The WinXP Explorer burner is not comprehensive enough, especially for DVD's. It always screws up my discs.

(P.S. I have a Sony 510A.)

Nero is your friend.

If you don't have Nero, check out the eBay stores for a cheap OEM copy 🙂
