Burner Question

A while back i rember reading a post about a drive that would burn 1-3 gig CDs and would cost about the same as a 24x burner. it also stated that the media would be cheep like 1$ for a disk. wounderin if anyone out there know any more about this?

Sounds to me an awful lot like a DVD writer. I've seen some DVD data writers on Pricewatch for around $200 but the catch here is you cannot write DVD Video formats (like movies) but you still get the huge storage ability. On the plus side is that you can find the right software to make your own videos and burn them to the DVD's.

I've heard about a drive that would do up to like 30gigs and it was low cost. Hmmm I can't remember what it was called but I almost bought one when I saw it at Staples. I read the access times and everything though and it wasn't fast enough for much of anything so I decided to just get a new hard drive instead. It was some type of optical drive.

On another note, I did see that they are making 99min cds now, they don't hold 1-3gigs, but they do hold like 870Megs.
