Burner problem with XP

All of a sudden, my burner is no longer detected in any burning program, ezcd, nero, cdrwin, fireburner, nothing.

I have a Yamaha 8824EZ, which worked perfectly fine in the first days of XP and always in 2k. I can use it as a cd-reader, and XP detects it as a burner, but none of the software does.

I've tried all the standard fixes(don't know if XP is any different).

-Checked to see if its detected at startup
-tried uninstalling and it in device manager, and restarting it for auto-detection and installation
-checked wires (although, that wouldn't explain why it could read cds)
-firmware upgrade (I know it doesn't help, but I decided it wouldn't hurt)
-disabled/enabled dma and autorun

Anyone have any solutions? I would really like to burn my debian cd right about now.

If you look on the adaptec's web site, hidden on there is a new ASPI layer written for XP and free as a download.

To install it follow the directions. install.bat XP32 in the directory it residies in from the run command line box in the start menu.

I downloaded it and installed it without issue, but I didn't bookmark it.
I'm looking for the page myself will post a link as soon as I find it.
