I overfilled the canister a little last night, and I thought, what's the big deal, a bit more is not going to hurt anything.
WRONG!!!
There is less space for oxygen to escape to as the peroxide buffers, I guess enough so that it it didn't convert completely to water. So when I put the contact in, it hurt like a mofo. Took that sucker out pronto and washed the eye for 10 minutes, feels OK now. Tasted leftover solution, sure enough it tastes a like peroxide.
Anyways, lesson learned and one more New Year Resolution :)

You should try leaving H2O2 out in a 5 gallon clear plastic container on your porch in spring some time... and I'm talking about the 20% industrial kind. WEEEEE!

My girlfriend is a retard and uses the contact solution she has to just rinse her eye, kind of like eye drops. She was over at my house and had forgotten her contact solution and asked if she could use my roomates. He had the kind that has to neutralize inside the special contact case and she didn't realize it. She squirted it directly into her eye and just started freaking out. Her vision was effed up for like a day and a half.

I've always rinsed mine with regular contact solution after removing from the canister..never had a problem that way. :p

I do that sometimes too, but got complacent. You'd still have some peroxide soaked up in the lens even if you rinse it though. I think tasting the solution is the way to go :)

Why not just use regular contact lens solution?

Apparently clearcare cleans better and it also requires no rubbing, which is a PITA. It's nice to take the lens out of the case, rinse it off and be done with it.

I've done this. It's hilarious now that I think about it, but at the time you feel like dying. I bought the stuff as I saw it in the same section as all the regular "no rub" stuff. Well, I took my contact out of the tub, sprayed it with clear care to rub it, and then put it in my eye. It absolutely burns! It's like comparable to being maced (for any of you who have had that pleasure). My eye was so burning that it naturally was jamming closed so I could not take the contact out. After 5 minutes of agony, I finally got the contact out. And what did I do because I didn't realize yet that it was the clear care? I took the bottle of clear care, and then proceeded to spray it directly in my eye for a 5 count before I knew what was happening. My wife heard me screaming like a 6 year old girl and asked what was happening. (I just figured I had touched some hot peppers or something). Anyway. Lessons learned. Perhaps I should have read the package. Google it. . There are about a million threads of people doing this. It's ridiculous. That's my story....

My solution can't go in my eyes either, but it's not neutralizing like the ClearCare. Just have to rinse it with water, dry it off, and then throw some saline on them.

Gas perms are a pain.

Ugh, I hated those times when I had to screw with contacts, solutions, rinsing, cleaning, etc.

Got lasik and do not miss contacts one bit.

Wow what a pain. I just leave mine in Renu over night and put back in eye. No rubbing or rinsing. They last 2-3 months and I have no issues.
