see if you can cut down on your work time and graduate earlier if you need to. loans aren't bad cuase of the good deals on interest rates you can get. i might take out all the loans i can before i graduate and invest the money, then pay them off with what i make because average market returns are greater than college loan rates

I believe I can qualify for Stanford Subsidized loans which means the government pays the interest while I'm in school. I took out 1k each semester this past year, I will see how much I can qualify for this year.

i think you should take school slowly -- like don't aim to graduate by next summer. spread your classes out over a few more semesters. it won't cause a substantial difference in salary anyway, especially if you continue working for this company. it sounds like you have a good job, good pay, and you're only going up from here.

remember what college is for -- to give you an education that will hopefully get you a successful career. it looks like you're already on your way to a successful career without the schooling. (however, don't drop it completely. just relax more.)

i truly wish i had a stable job that i could turn to both during and after college. i worked on campus in the network department, but that did little for me since i was a part timer and they didn't have any full time positions available when i graduated. you're already there -- so just take school slowly and focus on the network admin job since that is what ultimately goes down on your resume (in addition to a bachelor's degree or "currently enrolled at XXX, studying XXXX" which is just as good since employers see commitment and the pursuit of higher education)

debt by itself isn't evil...only unmanageable debt. Taking a few grand of loans won't burden you much.

But I am a strong advocate of maximum relaxation. Last summer I worked 3 weeks, then I spent 3 months abroad...best freaking time of my life. I could have earned enough for a whole year's tuition, but that would not have been any fun. I do not regret it at all.
Of course, now I have to pay back all those loans, but I am taking 1 year off (got a 16 month full time job) and I'll be able to relax (after work/on weekends), pay off the loans AND make enough for 4th year.
I am even considering using my 4th year tuition money for away for half a year or more after graduation...

My advice? Cut back on work, cut back on grades/schoolwork (not too much though) and enjoy your free time (not just sit around, go on road trips or something fun like that).

Man most of the people here are a bunch of fvcking idiots. If I were you, take the summer off from school to regain composure. Its hard being on top:)

EDIT: Make sure you go back for Fall05. Its going to be hard to get back into the groove though. Hopefully this will give you enough time to alert your bosses about your availibility.

YGPM.

yea, stafford subsidized is the way to go. and since your parents don't support you, you should be ok...although i'm not sure how your income will affect you. look at it this way--i'll be over $150k out in 4 years, owing about $30k in interest. you>me

You sounded pretty unhappy in your first post, like you're having trouble holding it all together. But you've already gotten some sensible advice from your boss and this forum.

1. College is important. Grades are important. Jobs just come and go.
So, take out loans and try to cut back your work hours and maximize your grades.
That, not some temp job, will determine your future.

2. It's ok to take a summer off and graduate later.
Why are you stressing yourself with an absolute graduation timetable?
You're WORKING full time in college; you're allowed to take an extra semester or two to finish.

3. Learn to say "NO" to the job demands.
It's hard, but this isn't a real job--they've made no permanent commitment to you. So, it's ok for you to cut back your responsibilities and explain, "Sorry, I'm going to college full time." If you don't learn to say "NO" now, you'll get exploited all your working life.

--Hey, you don't have 5 hungry children to feed. So enjoy life a little. Take more time, borrow more money and cut back your duties at this temp job, (where frankly, you're getting used--that's why the people are so nice!).

Me--I was tight for money and in a big hurry like you, so I blasted through college in only 3 years. BIG mistake. Be happy, instead. And keep your grades up! (OK, maybe those two goals are somewhat contradictory.) ;)

my advice, quit giving a sh1t. quit expecting good things out of life. quit caring about things other than work and school. you will learn to stop wishing you were having fun when you aren't and just get through it. i find that makes it go easier. if you take time off to "enjoy life" you might find you are just wasting time untill you have to start working hard again and not really enjoying it.

congratulations your life is worthless.

re: op

if i were you i'd take an easier class load and graduate later, or take out some loans to work less

enjoy life cuz there is no point in making all that money if you can't use it
