Burn errors only when burning DL BDRE

A few weeks ago I started receiving errors when burning 50GB BDRE discs. I thought it was the disc, but after having ordered new discs, they error as well. I do not get any errors when burning other types of bluray discs (25gb BDRE, 25 & 50gb BDR) Could the drive fail as to only affect DL BDRE?
 
Yes, it could, but likely it's more to do with buffers and write speed. Try writing at 2X and see if problem persists.
