Burn DVDs/VCDS with nero?

I have two MPG files making up one complete movie. Can I use Nero, or any other software, to burn them into a VCD or DVD? I tried using Nero to burn into a VCD. Once completed, the VCD worked in my PC, but not in my DVD player, which does support VCDs. I guess what I really want to know, is there software that will burn them onto a VCD or DVD, that will be compatible with most, if not all, DVD players?

Thanks in advance.

A reason it may have not worked in your DVD player is because some DVD players won't play VCD's or any disc thats burnt on a CD-R disc. First generation DVD players often where like this.

Try burning your VCD to a CD-RW disc instead of a CD-R, in some cases drives will read a CD-RW, but not a CD-R.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try. Unfortunately, no CD-RW's at the moment. My DVD player is a Samsung, and not even a year old, would this still count as first generation?

Check out WW's link. I have done some looking through vcdhelp.com and some players are very picky with cdr's and usually you will find recomendations on which media to use. Mine will only read cdrw's.
