Except...uhhh...when I use my charcoal grill on my countertop, my carbon monoxide detector goes bonkers. Don't know why that is....
;)

I know few people who care about "knockin' out da fat," it's just fast, convenient, cheap and effective.

It gets dry and taste terrible if you cook regular burger too long. I tend to add about 20-30% chop onions in the ground beef to keep it moist.

Burgers were meant to be BBQ'd. End of story.

George is an idiot, and all his kids will have horrible social lives because of his ignorance. If he can name his kids the most retarded names in existance, imagine what kind of father he is. Not that this has anything to do with his grill, I just think the man is an idiot. But then again, what boxer isn't? You'd have to be an idiot to become a boxer, so it only gets worse as the career goes on.

you obviously have some personal issues...

Everyone I know who has one doesn't brag about the fat being "leached away" they love them because they're convenient as hell. Fast to heat up, fast cooking, fast cleanup. I can go from power on to done steaks in under 10 minutes. Chicken breasts are ready in a couple minutes more.

Quoted for truth.

They will give you the charred look if you want.

Use cheaper meat, like 85% lean at most, that way you maintain juiciness even though a lot of fat drains off.

Use a ton of worscester sauce and spices when making the burger and they are better than most restaurants... Stays juicy and everything.

IMO they kick ass.

Well I picked up 16 6oz frozen patties. They have a high fat content according to the side of the box (34g overall--15g is saturated). I cooked two with onion, garlic powder and worcestershire sauce on them. Then I put on some Red's hot sauce afterwards. Not too bad.

I hope some of that fat leaked out :( There was approx 3-5mm of liquid in the catcher thing but I'm not sure if that was all the fat and grease or other juice too.

I'd give them a 6/10 overall. Kind of had a sog taste to em but better than having chunky beef soup for another night.

Forman grill=yummy anything cooked on it.
Burgers, steak, chicken, hot dogs, polish sausage, bacon, grilled cheese, little cocktail wieners, pretty anything you would grill or fry is great off the grill.

I haven't had fast food at all so far this year, in large part due to my purchase of a GRP99 grill. It's literally faster to cook myself something than to drive the 5 blocks to Wendy's.

Even if it doesn't taste like a "real" grill it's still pretty damn good, & I honestly don't care whether or not it drains fat away.

CHA'CHING. Actually, the cleanup is what I hated, altho the new removable plates help on that aspect. Maybe you won't sacrifice time for a BBQ'd burger, but some of us just can't do it.

Just grilled to big ass burgers on my GF grill (added some onion soup mix, a dash of garlic and some teryaki sauce). Had some buns toasted in the toaster over while I was waiting.

Only thing I hate is cleaning it up. Takes longer than a regular grill and you have to get all down in the nooks and crannies.

Well a month and a half later I've already cooked a couple dozen burgers on there.

Its not great but it does remain acceptable. I was using 6oz lean patties with onion, worcestershire sauce and garlic powder. Decent source of protein (I don't eat any fowl, seafood or pork so that limits me).

doesn't taste exactly like an outdoor bbq grill, but for how quickly they get done, still pretty good.

tip : preheat the foreman until it's as hot as it gets before you put your patty on it. This helps sear the sides (bottom plate is usually hotter btw) and keeps more of the "juice" inside. Burgers done when the juice coming out isn't bloody anymore.

tip2 : When cleaning the foreman, if you have some really hard to remove crust stuff, wet 3-4 paper towels throughoughly, place them in a heated forman, close. In about 3 mins the crustiest stuff will be easy to wipe off. Try cleaning it when the plates are still hot witha a sponge or paper towel.

tip3 : Foreman doesn't really make good steaks.

tip4: try bacon ;)

yay for the Foreman, it kept me from starving in college

I won't use a foreman grill for the simple reason that when I was learning to cook burgers, it was drilled by yelling and screaming to NEVER EVER EVER squeeze the burgers/steaks/etc. it doesn't really cook faster and just dries them out a lot.

plus I can cook burger faster in a skillet than the foreman if it's just for me. Cleanup is quick too...just pour water into the hot skillet and the crap cooks off it and floats to the top.

The foreman grill has metal surfaces.

They get hot.

This cooks the meat.

Same basic concept as any other similarly equipped cooking device.

I'd say whether it tastes "good" or not, is going to depend on your skills as a culinary artist.

In short, yes, you could theoretically cook up the best burger you've ever had on a Foreman.
