BK must be losing money on the sale of these.
Who knows... with a ready-made game engine, developing a simple game should be relatively inexpensive. If they've sold 2 million at $4 apiece, that's $8 million. I doubt they've spent that on development, manufacturing and distribution. You can't really count the promotional cost (TV ads) since the games ARE a promotion to get people in the store. Plus they now have 2 million games out there that will remind people to eat at Burger King. 😉 They aren't a game company, the point isn't to make money off the games, so even if they lost money it's just a promotional expense like any other.
Very true, it's all promotion and they might not have been aiming for profit in the first place.Originally posted by: mugs

My local BK has the complete set for $9.99. They're not great games, but for the price they're amusing distractions. My daughter and I had fun with Big Bumpin. She beat me every game though, I'm starting to feel old.Originally posted by: Queasy
The Burger King up the road is selling them 3 for $10.99 now. I picked up the Pocketbike Racer on a whim during lunch one day but haven't tried it out.

Apparently BK will be in Japan next year. We need to seem them become as big as the golden arches.

at $4 a pop, I don't really find this surprising.

This is nothing new...video games as marketing tools have been around since the days of the Atari 2600. Maybe 10? years back back (when Doom had been out for a couple years) Chex cereal had a CD-Rom game inside the box based on the Doom engine. It was called Chex Quest, heh. I still have a copy. I even have an old "Kool-Aid Man" 2600 cart 😛
This was an excellent move on BKs part. I see other fast food places following suit in the near future.
