Shit like this always makes me laugh.

Horse isn't cheap (at least in the US). Why anybody would think they'd use a more expensive meat is beyond me. Since this article is in a foreign language maybe they're talking about Burger King in other countries.

We also have an odd dividing line between what's okay to eat and not. When I went to Japan they had restaurants dedicated to horse, and I thought it was great. I even had horse sashimi (raw sliced horse) and it was alright, but the horse steak was great. On the flip side, they think it's odd that we eat deer... so it works both ways.

It's like this meme: https://pics.onsizzle.com/bout-right-there-all-animals-want-to-live-food-pet-2544162.png

I'd draw the line between the retriever and the rabbit. Rabbit is good, horse is good, people need to quit being so sensitive about which animals are considered food.

Absolutely. I will never forget a BBC article I read that went on how non-Americans think peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are gross. And I eat one almost daily.

It's in French, not really a foreign language. Not sure where the news actually originates but that site is probably just relaying it from other sources. Just saw it posted by someone on FB so I just googled to find the other article for those who arn't bilingual.

It does seem odd to me a company would use horse meat though, I can't see why that would be better for the company than using cows. I guess they probably use whatever they come across, so if someone was giving away some horses then they went for it. From a health/nutritional point of view it's not really a big deal, but it can be alarming to find out that something is in your food when you did not realize it. Then again when you buy fast food you kind of go in with low nutritional expectations. :p

Against all odds, the famous Burger King Macdonald competitor, admits he uses horse meat in their burgers. In this article, we will reveal all the details of this case and how the horse meat was found in the menus of the King of Burgers ...
In the past, Burger King, has always denied accusations that its meat burgers were essentially on horseback. Today, the case takes another turn and the King's American Burger rolls in flour.
There the horse in the Burger King!

We told the company that produces the meat for Burger King is called "Silvercrest". This company was the supplier of production and distribution of meat to Tesco, Asda and Co-op also.

What you do not know is that this food company supplying meat had already been banned from circulation in the United States for a year.

About this case, Burger King announced that:

"We have determined that Silvercrest will put a small percentage of beef imported from a supplier whose Polish meat production standards meet the WHO requirements.

We went that includes Polish supplier was the source of the contamination at Silvercrest our supplier. "
Here is how the horse meat was found in the Burger King menu:

After weeks of uncertainty and control more and more, Burger King has finally admitted to using burgers and Whoppers containing horsemeat, that is to say from the horse.

Burger King had strongly denied all the charges and on several occasions he had given assurances and unfounded claims. But overnight, the US fast food chain has admitted that the tests were incorrect and has made solemn apology to all its customers worldwide.

Burger King revealed that the horse meat burgers were at the origin of the meat processing company, called Silvercrest and based in Ireland, the subsidiary of ABF Foods Group. We think this is the same company that provided the equine meat to Tesco, Asda and Co-op. The company would have used prohibited ingredients of human consumption for a whole year!

Faced with this scandal Burger King, the great brand needs to improve its image and to recover all the customers it has lost because of this difficult case.

And you, would you find the Burgers Burger King as delicious as before after this terrible announcement?

This reminds me of the story from a decade or so ago about McDonalds using earthworms. It got some traction for a bit until word got around that earthworms were a lot more expensive than choice ground beef.

Chance this is true = 0.

Of course, you're too ignorant to actually look at your google results b/c you would have found this:

http://www.snopes.com/burger-king-admits-burgers-contain-horsemeat/

In short, Burger King stated back in early 2013 that trace amounts of horse DNA had been found at one of their suppliers' plants, but they had immediately discontinued use of that supplier as a precaution, and no horse DNA had actually been found in the chain's burgers. Nonetheless, the disreputable Before It's News site deliberately misrepresented a nearly three-year-old story about a horsemeat contamination scandal that had barely touched Burger King to make it appear that the chain was now acknowledging they are currently selling horsemeat to customers who order hamburgers.

For one I agree it is an untruth. That being said I don't understand why so many are freaking out about eating horse meat. I have and it is pretty damn good.
