Burger King to scrap new ad after complaint by Mexico

This reminds me when certain African American groups had Taco Bell remove a commercial depicting jungle people dancing around a pot carrying tacos proclaiming the tastiness of a new fiery sauce. I think this was back in the mid 90s.

All this talk of food is making me hungry again. 🙁

Seriously, do you think this is offensive?

Story

From what I read it was the fact that he was draped in a Mexican flag that was the issue.

How would you feel if a Mexican company was using the American flag to promote its products? It's their fucking flag, they have the right to request that it not be desecrated to sell fucking hamburgers and the fact that Burger King agreed and withdrew the ad seems to indicate that they agree. I think they made the right decision. How is this even news? 😕

Mexico doesn't own red, white, and green.

Its actually pretty condescending imo.
The dude can open a pickle jar, barehanded, without breaking a sweat. No one is more badass than that.

In other news, the US is boycotting Mexico until they learn the concept of "humor."

You say this like Mexicans treat the American flag with the utmost respect...

I seem to remember Mexican immigrants burning the American flag, tearing American flags off of AMERICAN buildings and installing Mexican flags in their places...

"Mexico's ambassador to Spain said posters released in Europe for Burger King's new Tex-Mex style "Texican whopper," a cheeseburger with chile and spicy mayonnaise, inappropriately displayed the Mexican flag, whose image is protected under national law.

The ambassador wrote a letter complaining to Burger King and requested the ad campaign be discontinued."

Well, I would tend to disagree with you there...as did Mexico's ambassador to Spain and Burger King. I guess you lose.

I don't give a shit what a single person or persons do to our flag whether they're Americans or Mexicans. It is meaningless and doesn't give corporations in this country the right to desecrate another nation's flag. You're comparing apples to oranges.

It wasn't some random red, white, and green stitched together. It was their flag dude. :disgust:

If a European country did this with the american flag people would shit bricks.

I haven't seen either of you going off about all the corporations who use the American flag to sell stuff on various holidays...nor about people using the American flag as curtains, for clothing, etc., both of which are against the AMERICAN flag code.

I still don't see this as a "desecration" of the Mexican flag, nor would I really care if it was.
