First off the color is "Dark Titanium Metallic", #39263.

It wasn't a big deal to pain the bezels.

1)First I figured out how to get them off. Then I popped out the clear LCD lenses in each bezel.

2)Then I cleaned them off with isopropyl alchol to remove any existing dirt/grease.

3)Then (per the suggestion of the guys at the autobody paint shop where I bought the paint) I sprayed a light clearcoat of "adhesion promoter" (which I bought there also) on the bezels. Those guys claim, contrary to what I've read in various computer forums about vinyl paint/dye, that vinyl paint actrually doesn't "sink into the plastic", but is specially formulated to work well with plastics. Plastics have oils in them from the molding process that metal doesn't. Regular old spray paint is made for metal without oils so it won't stick so good to "oily" plastics. The adhesion promoter gives a little extra bite to the paint, or so these guys claim. They're the experts so I did what they said.

4) Next I did the color coats(s). The secret here is lots of light coats. Just dust it on lightly, don't try to cover all in one shot. This stuff dries well enough to respray in 10-15 minutes so it doesn't take forever to finish. I probably used about 5-6 coats total. This preserves the original texture of the plastic so the drives look exactly like stock but a different color.

5)I let the paint dry overnight and then snapped the lcd lenses back into the bezels, snapped the bezels back onto the drives and I was ready to rock.

I did this avout 3-4 months ago and the paint has held up 100%. Notice that I have 2 HDD mobile racks in there that are painted. These have been slid in and out dozens and dozens of times since they were painted and the paint hasn't worn off. It's a little scuffed where the plastic slides on the plastic but the regular plastic would have got the same way.

EDIT - OOPS FORGOT! - Use this paint outdoors! It's pretty potent. Just find a dust-free area to paint in.

Ok I bought a can. So you are suggesting that I spray at it lightly once..wait 20 mins or so...spray it again...and so on?

Yes.

Read the directions on the can. It should tell you how long (or short) you can wait between coats. Multiple light coats give much better results the a few heavier coats. Be patient.
