Same thing it always does? Bumps the post to the top so people will read it?

so if i type bump in someones forum it'll move it to the top of the forum list
and how come in some forums different people post bump like 10 replies in a row

Look at the times. Usually the times are different.

When you reply to a thread, normally what happens is that it goes to the top of the list that you view. In FS/FT if your thread gets relatively old, then if someone bumps, it comes again to the top of the list, until someone posts another thread or bumps a thread to the top. It's a continuous cycle.

They're not allowed to do so excect in the FS/FT every 4 hours, and that's so their thread goes to the top for greater visibility.

because it doesn't stay at the top forever. between all the bumping and new posts, your post will most likely be 5 pages back in a matter of minutes.
