Bulletstorm has been released for pre-purchase on Steam

http://store.steampowered.com/app/99810/

To me, it looks like a mix of painkiller, borderlands and duke nukem forever. I just wish there was a discount for pre-purchase.

I think I'll pass until some reviews are released, and the first price reduction.

Looks FUN to me...

Everything doesn't have to be REALISTIC in my book for a shooter to be FUN!

Unless you count humor for 15 year olds, combat that isn't actually that fun, and way too much reliance on being "edgy" rather than good "fun", than all the power to you.

Dude aren't we all kids trapped in our adult bodies when it comes to gaming?

I'm 46 and still think Duke and Bulletstorm look HILARIOUSLY fun...

Shooters can be dark: Deadspace, Bioshock, etc...

They can be semi-realistic: COD, BF, etc...

Or they can just be fun: Duke, Serious Sam, Borderlands etc...

I've heard it's very short 5-6 hours plus sixty bucks . Epic couldn't give a flying frook about PC gamers any more ... It might be fun though , I'll wait for bargain bin personally.

I'll be waiting a while for this to drop, and it should drop in price pretty quickly. I played the demo and it just wasn't as fluid and entertaining as the videos make it seem. There's really not a whole lot of different things you can do, so after an hour or so you've figured out all the different ways of killing people apart from new weapons. It also has a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do. I'll drag a guy to me and try to kick him off the edge, but it doesn't register that he went off the edge so he just falls to the ground in slo-mo. There will be stuff that looks like it can impale someone, but I could never get anybody to stick on it. If you're not interacting with the special parts they've designated then it just won't work like you want.

the game looks like a standard shooter with 50 ways to teabag your opponents.

while it can be fun to talk smack with your friends every so often, i'm not sure i would ever want a server full of pubs wooting everytime they shoot you in the balls. It just seems like a nostalgia play for the "good ol days" of nukem and quake, If there isn't any actual new gameplay that will be a very short trip.

I was almost excited about this until I saw that Epic was developing it. It'll probably just be like Unreal Tournament had offspring with Gears of War.

I played the demo on XBox, the graphics and the "feel" of the game were great, even for the 360. It's got that Borderlands-esqe look which at first I didn't like but grew on me (with Borderlands) until I found I really loved it.

The demo for Bulletstorm was pretty "knock you over the head" with how EXTREME the game is, though. Like, I get it - you're going for the edgy vibe. Okay. After the twentieth time the guy says "Hey Dick Tits!" it starts to wear on me. I played through all 10 minutes worth of gameplay it offered and immediately deleted it. There was zero challenge, and the combos (although fun) were a little nauseating.

Overall I felt WAY over-stimulated after the 10 minutes. Too much nonsense and blaring heavy metal music and numbers jumping all over the screen (you score points for doing everything under the sun).

And yet, there was some enjoyment as well. It felt like it had good production values which I'm actually a sucker for. There were redeeming qualities to it...etc. I don't see myself purchasing this unless it was on a $7 Steam sale, and even then I'm not sure, but yeah, that was my take on the demo.

Epic isn't developing it. People Can Fly have that responsibility, but from everything I've seen they are making just another boring console shooter that has no resemblance to Painkiller, or their PC roots at all.

In other words, Epic might as well have developed it.
