Intel is teh bad as for the HDD I think you should go with a better brand like seagate also they make like 7200.9 or .8 I forget and that will get you a little more speed for the same price
 
yes, that HDD is better. maxtor is sort of on the crappy side of things. i think intel is good for what you are using it for. i really dont know much about that motherboard though.

if he's gonna go amd single core, he shouldn't get the 3500. either the 3200 or 3700.

get the Western Digital RE2 16mb cache drive for your hard drive. if you want to get a seagate, the 7200.8 and .9 are newer drives, but check the benchmarks cause the 7200.7 is faster than both the newer drives in many benchmarks
