Built new system

[Master Chief]

Just built a new system. 2 gigs of ram, evga 7800 gt, Amd 3000, Epox mobo, its nice. Anyway, I have one issue. When I play games on it (Quake 4 and X-men Legends 2 so far), all of a sudden as I am playing, the game will freeze up. I can still hear the audio, but cant move or anything. After about 10-30 seconds, the game resumes and I can play again. My brother said to download a patch for Quake, I did but havent played it since. Havent done anything for X-men, but I find it really strange that both games freeze up and then they resume. Whats the issue here?? Please help.

Are you overclocking the CPU or video? If so, go back to stock speed.

Does the patch work? Maybe X-men uses an id software engine so needs a similar patch.

Just tried Quake, patch does not work, and I dont have anything overclocked. You think if I update my vide drivers, it will work??

update video drivers, and chipset drivers for your motherboard. report back if no change.

what's your cpu cooling setup and what's your current vcore?

I am using a Thermalright XP-90 heatsink with a panflo fan. I updated my video drivers but can not find the chipset drivers because the epox site is down. I have the EPoX EP-9NPAJ mobo. How do I find out what my vcore is, I dont know?

If it helps at all. my temps are: CPU 29 C, SYSTEM 31 C, and GPU 41 C

Wierd. Some people said they have had this and they had to underclock their GPU's, anyone know if that is total BS or could help this problem?

was the HDD seeking during gameplay (during the freezing)? just curious.

So do you think this is just a bad card from EVGA? Should I RMA it? I've had it for less then a week. Also, my GPU temps are 40 C when not running games, and around 50 C when running games, is that normal?
