Last FPS I bought was FEAR.
I now have a rig that should play some newer games. How about some recommendations for something to play that has some serious eye candy?
TIA

New Rig:
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz
Motherboard: ASUS P5B Deluxe
Memory: 4GB PC2 5300
Video Card: ASUS 8800GTS 640MB
PSU: Corsair 520 Watt
Vista Home Premium

I hear Prey is pretty good (but short).

But, Quake Wars will be big and pretty (as far as open terrain with lots of eye candy goes), supposed to be similar to BattleField 1942.

Rainbow 6 Vegas for the PC would give your sys a good run. I just picked this game up and run it with a Nostromo N52 for control purposes. My sys is a lil weaker in the knees than yours but runs it just fine.

Oblivion is the only game that I'd recommend here. Don't touch Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six because they are horrible ports. The Xbox360 version of these actually looks better anyway. You could also try Half-Life 2 Lost Coast, but it's really just one level.

Pick up the FEAR expansion, Extraction Point. Not as good as the original IMO, but the last firefight is worth the whole game (for fun and eye candy).

It looks amazing even on medium settings.

Half-Life 2 Lost Coast:
I played it on the old rig, I'll have to find my disk or can I re-download it from Steam?

Far Cry

I cannot believe no one has mentioned it yet. One of the best-looking games ever.

Probably because the game it's self sucks.

Nah, game was ok, the bulk of the voice acting and the story just sucked.

Its not that graphic intensive anyways

i vote for Rainbow Six Vegas or Call of Duty 2. COD2 is one of the best looking games i have ever played. it still amazes me everytime i start it up. crank everything up and enjoy. another good one is FIFA ( i know its not FPS) but it is still really good looking and the 8800 will help you be able to enjoy it to the fullest.

STALKER isn't exactly pretty at highest settings, but it looks great. Dynamic shadows, fog, and all the good stuff really makes that game beautifully dark and creepy. The most atmospheric first person shooter ever, quite possibly.

nice and about time :p
-what about OC'ing your e6600?

Oblivion with the Texture Packs and everything cranked to the Max looks best - still, imo. The game is "FPS" but a lot of RPG ... and frankly the expansion, Shivering Isles is the best consistently written story of Oblivion and the colors are much more rich in Mania-land.

STALKER is impressive for the "aliveness" of its world ... the visuals fall short of Oblivion .. and forget Source Engine games ... the shadows and and lighting falls way short of other modern games

PREY looks awesome for an "older" game ... it is the best the D3 Engine can manage ... the first 20 minutes of the game are breath-taking.

Fable, LC is "pretty" with everything also maxed but 'bloom' is way overdone

I know, I know. I pieced that old rig together enough times.
I don't OC. No reason to try and fry something. I have enough trouble keeping OEM parts going. :Q

I am looking at the other games and I started downloading (satellite) Lost Coast last night. When I got up this morning it was at 37%. Damn Vista machine went to sleep while it was downloading. :|
