Built new comp, having problems

My friend just built a new comp on an MSI K7t mobo (via kt133A chipset). It has a 1ghz athlon in it. Anyway, when it posts at default settings, it only posts as 750. So, question #1 is why does it do this? the bios settings are all set properly. Secondly, the monitor will just go into sleep mode randomly (the comp won't restart when this happens, its just the monitor). It has a Visiontek Geforce GTS. thanks

I just built a comp, and had a silmilar problem w/ the CPU. Is the Athlon 200 or 266 mhz Bus? In the BIOS under CPU speed, it should say something silmilar to CPU Speed. On my ecs k7s5a mobo the options under CPU speed were 100/100, 100/133, 133/133. If u have an Athlon w/ a 266mhz Bus, then set it to 133/133. If everything is good in your BIOS, then read the Mobo manual. Sometimes there are jumpers that you have to set manually(accoriding to the Bus speed). Cant help u w/ the monitor problem.

This board defaults to 100mhz fsb. You have to manually set it to 133fsb. That chip should run at 133fsb X 7.5 = 1G. In its default fsb you are getting 100 fsb X 7.5 = 750.

I don't have this board so I'm not absolutely sure but if memory serves me right, you have to set 133 fsb with a jumper on this board. Anyone have it that can confirm??

see the manual for the jumper to move or remove.
I have done it already.
But my duron 700 won't post @ 933.
Second : check in the bios afterwards and it should be 133 mhz bus speed.
(and you have an athlon 1000 "c" aka 133 mhz bus)

Monitor : sorry i don't know. General rules
1 Check the connection
2 Are you overdemanding from it (a refresh rate it does not support well ?) (lower the refresh rate and see if it still happens ?)

About the monitor, also try disabling power managment in the bios if you haven't done so already.
