built-in Dolby Digital/DTS decoder

If i have a receiver with dolby Digital/DTS decoder, do i need a dvd player that have this feature to use it? If no, then what cable should i use to connect the receiver to the dvd player to get dolby digita/dts?

As far as I remember, most DVD players have a DD/DTS output. So if you have a DD decoder on your receiver, then you wouldn't need one in the DVD player. The ones that do are called "DD Ready".

Basically, if your receiver already can decode the digital signals, then you just get a coax (or optical) cable to go from your DVD to receiver... Hope this helps...

freeze si esentially right.... you will not need a DD/DTS decoder builtin to the DVD player if your Reciever already decodes it all you will need is a DVD player that will send the signal to the reciever by coax or optical connections.. I would personally recommend opticla if your reciever has it.

If your receiver decodes you need a DVD player that can still handle things on its end.

Cool, so i don't need a dvd player that have like left, right, center, sub...(speaker) connection on it.

haven't bought anything yet. still doing research.

I have $6000 to spend on the system. But I can't spent on it right now till the house is complete in August.

The TV i want alone is $3000

The speakers set I want cost $1500
Only $1500 left on receiver, dvd player, cassete player cause my aunt want one. Karaoke mixer.
