Built computer wont turn on

I just put together an HTPC with my old parts. Asus p4c800E deluxe and 2.4c with 1gig ram. When I got it all connected I push power and I see the fan spin for a brief second and the light blink on and off. But thats it. I can unplug the system and do that again and same thing. Also when its plugged in the motherboard light stays green. So its getting power. Any ideas on what is wrong? I just bought this Ahanix D.Vine 5 case with silenx 300watt mini PSU.

Could be a short. I would take it out of the case, set it on a magazine or something, and try to get into bios with only the cpu, ram and video card hooked up.

That is a MB problem my friend. Maybe you can send it back or something, I had the exact same problem on an Abit IC7, the NB/CPU fans would spin for a split second, and then nothing. Changed out PSU's, same problem. Luckily mine was only a couple of weeks old, so I got another one for free.

I had this problem before and it was a dead psu. You have another psu to test? If you don't have a spare one., do a seach through google- you can test the psu by jumpinb two of the connectgors together.

The second possibility is, of cours, a short. Take the mb out and test it again.

I strongly doubt you have a dead mb. These things are quirky buyt I have yet experienced a dead mb after going through about 20 mb's.

I'd guess there's either a short, a fubar mobo or psu, or something "silly" like the cpu fan header doesnt have a fan plugged into it (some boards wont boot otherwise, as a safety measure) or maybe similar cable/connector shenanigans.
