Hello everyone,I just finished building my new PC and now GPU buying is a concern. My build is:

Gigabyte Z390 Ultra

9700k + be quiet Dark Rock Pro 4

16GB DDR4 G.Skill 3200

Samsung 970 Evo + 4TB HDD

Corsair RM850x (2018 edition) + be quiet silent base 800

I play on full HD 60hz and now I need to step in 1440p gaming with 144hz monitor (also looking recs for this one)

Mainly I play World of Tanks, but I always play AAA games when they are out, mostly FPS and TPS games.

Since there are some problems with 2080 and 2080ti cards dying and amd doesn't offer anything interesting at this moment

Now I play WOT on medium settings with on board gpu (uhd 630) so basically I can wait for some new releases, but as I guess it's not happening in new future.

I need gpu to power one 144hz monitor for gaming and another 60hz big TV for movies, adventure games, browsing etc...

2070 isn't fully enough for 1440p gaming, which makes choice even more difficult, what should I do?

Used 1080 Ti if you can find one.

Forgot to say,I'm out of used items business.
Buying sites: amazon.com or geizhals.at

P.S Since my R9 390 Nitro died with no reason to die (never oc-ed,never mine, super cool environment) I guess my priority is nvidia cards.

If 2070 isn't enough you, and you don't want used, then your options are obvious:

Vega 7, and RTX 2080.

They cost about the same and perform about the same.

It's then down to whether you value modern features (2080) or extra Vram (Vega 7) more.

You ask for help, then proceed to eliminate AMD from the running. Then, narrow down the search to something new in box above a 2070, but not a 2080 or ti because you are worried about them dying. That does not leave a whole lot left now does it? Here is a recommendation: since you are buying new, stop worrying about a card dying, that is what warranties are for. You are on IGP right now, so you can certainly live with it again in the unlikely event you have to RMA a 2080. Which is my recommendation, buy a 2080.

Unless you need to play those games on the highest settings, you can probably get a 2070 or maybe even a 2060 and be fine. There are a lot of games these days where high (or even medium) are incredibly good looking.

Save the extra money and get a good monitor with adaptive sync, which is going to be a lot cheaper now that NVidia has essentially dropped GSync and is letting their GPUs work with more monitors. There are some really good HDR monitors out there right now and you'll probably get more value from spending the extra money there.

-And since the Radeon VII isn't even out yet, we don't know the availability or the final performance numbers, that narrows down options even further :D!

2080 or, if price is no object, 2080Ti...

As I understand only optimal option is buying 2080... I was just wondering if there would be any sense in waiting for this cards for price drop + which 2080 is better to buy? Are Gigabyte 2080 good cards? They are kinda cheaper than all the others

Buy a 2080 TI! Waiting is always better if you don’t need it! Over time as new technology is release, the 2080 falls relatively to how much better the new cards are to the 2080! I usually buy the latest technology because uses less watts, less heat, usually has more RAM and have a long life span.

If you don't need to buy immediately, it seems like it would be prudent to wait a week to see reviews for Radeon VII. Then based on the reviews (rather than opinions of biased forumites), choose the best card for your situation.

Radeon VII is supposed to be 29% faster than RX Vega 64 in gaming. That's going to vary from one title to the next, but even still, I think there are some circumstances where 1.29 * Vega64 != 144 fps, much less 144 minfps (or even 120 minfps).

Example, a AAA title from 2017, Battlefield 1:

https://www.anandtech.com/show/11717/the-amd-radeon-rx-vega-64-and-56-review/8

With Ultra quality, Radeon VII should provide average fps of ~131 @ 1440p. 99th percentile, ~103 fps.

Obviously the 1080Ti isn't cutting it here either, nor would the RTX 2080. Maybe overclocking would get you over the hump, or maybe 103 minfps is good enough for you. That's for you to decide.

If you want a solid 144 fps or higher on that 144 MHz monitor of yours, the RTX 2080Ti is the only card that might get you there. Might. Hope that isn't too rich for your blood. Those things are expensive.

For reference, 2080Ti running Battlefield 1:

https://www.anandtech.com/show/1334...tx-2080-ti-and-2080-founders-edition-review/6

Them 99th percentile numbers aren't looking all that hot either, considering what you're spending. If Radeon VII can actually manage a 99th percentile of 103 fps in this case, then maybe there's hope for it yet.

So I don't have finally decided, but thinking of buying 2080 MSI
WIll it be good decision made by me now or should I wait for price drop or any new products ? I was thinking also about 2070 which can be enough for 1440p gaming by reducing some settings, but price difference (about 150-200 euro) between them isn't a real problem for me,so should I go with 2080 msi? ))

I would wait a bit, for Radeon VII reviews, and then make a decision on it, the RTX 2080, or the 2080Ti. Its also possible the release of the Radeon VII could push down the price on some 2080 models, so even if you don't go with it, you could get a better deal on the 2080.

Sorlag is awesome btw.
