Built a headphone amp! Pics!

rock! i'm just getting into this headphone stuff and wanting to build my own CMoy pocket amp. was on the virge of ordering the parts from digi-key, but decided to hold off for a bit. can't wait till you start taking orders! i might be one of the first customers.

Wow! That is very cool! Do you have to know any electrical engineering to do this? How big of a difference soundwise is it?

I got a tube amp going the other day.. kind of looks like sh1t, but this one is just a trial run.. waiting for some bigger tubes...

yours looks nice 🙂

I don't have any EE experience. I am just a 2nd year (next week anyway) computer engineering student. It cost me about $400 to build this prototype. That includes the parts i had to order after i screwed up some of the first, and many extra parts.

Anyone who listens to my headphone setup, their jaw just drops and then they get a huge grin on their face. I'm used to it now though, the sound is incredible to the point that i may have to switch from listening to rock because the recordings are so poor.

expensive, but worth it. i dare anyone to beat my system at this price.....sennheiser hd600 $200, DIY amp $400, Terratec EWX24/96 sound card $150, total $750

yeah, good if you're an audiophile. i was just going to do the cmoy one.. i only gots some HD495's... 600's are a bit out of my league (and i'd prolly not notice the difference 🙂)). The parts i have are sitting in a box right next to me.. they've been like that for 6 months now.. hehe.
