That's just a good excuse to acquire the toys, I mean tools, you need to do the job.

Did you stick the wood into the fround, or is it resting on the surface? If it's on the surface, might be a wee tipsy.

The fort is freestanding: the base is quite wide, and the whole structure weights about 150 kilos if not more. The stairs provide additional support on one end, and the rock climbing wall will be installed on the opposite end.

As long as you add more stuff to the sides later on.

I was watching Jon & Kate + 8 last night (...yeah yeah, I know...). Anyway, Jon was putting up their own fort, and it looked very similar. He drove stakes in to the ground and then bolted them to the fort's base. OP could probably get away with doing the same thing.

nice work OP.
I built something similar (albeit a bit bigger) a few years back for our kids too. Picked up the plans/brackets/wood at Home Depot. It was a lot of work, and of course it was like 200 degrees out that weekend, but I got it built. Kids (and the neighbor kids) have loved it since then. Was a great fn project and rewarding for all parties involved.

You're telling somebody to grow up when this is a place where making jokes the person who died in a death thread are cheered on? lol great.

iirc you're the jackass that was making jokes about the death of a child :|

I picked up all the wood at Home Depot, and it cost about $120 or so. But, had I known better, I would have gone straight to the local lumber yard, which is about same distance from me. The amount of time I wasted sorting through shitty wood at HD was not worth the trouble. Lumber yard prices are roughly the same, but the wood is much better quality, and they help you to load it up. You are in and out in minutes.

Yeah, I think once I attach the monkey bars and the climbing wall, I will secure everything with stakes. We have such rocky soil here, it's impossible to drive the stakes into the ground. I may need some kind of large drill to bore into the ground, and then hammer the wood into the holes.

You are right, I did do it once to see what would happen. Prior I'd seen a ton (at least 20) threads where children had died with jokes being thrown around like nothing. And there was no stink in any of them, except for what I raised. But the one time I do it to try and fit in, I get ripped a new asshole. Since, there have been other threads involving a child and death and jokes were aplenty. ATOT is great like that though, the inconsistencies here are just freaking awesome.

right, you were just doing it as a "test." your jokes and your refusal to own up to their classlessness makes you even more disgusting :| you should apologize to ATOT

I'm sorry so many people on ATOT have no class, and no clue how to act when it comes to sensitive matters like death. I apologize for each and every one of them.

And to Barfo, I'm probably one of the least liked members here. But when people who hate me typically think it's proper to make funnies when people die. I'm not that concerned with what they think about me ;)

I usually do it with rebar. They sell rebar in 2 foot lengths at Home Depot. Drill a 1/2" hole and pound the rebar through the wood with a small sledge. By the time you get it flush with the wood you've mushroomed a nice nail head to hold it down. Rebar will push most fist sized rocks out of the way. If we are talking alternator sized you might have a problem.

Very nice, what type of lumbar did you go with? Can you buy it at HD/Lowes or have to go to a lumbar yard to get the stuff that's not loaded with bad chemicals, withstands weather, etc?

His back is killing him as he's slipped one of his lumber discs. It might take him some time to reply. If you didn't know, the lumber region is a dense forest of nerves and susceptible to debilitating disease, Japanese beetles and lumberjackass.

Awesome! Now she just needs some mounted squirt guns to keep her fort safe from pesky little brothers :D
