very nice indeed, however please tell me that you used steel in that reservoir instead of mixing metals with alu and copper.

It is aluminum. However, there is a rubber gasket covering most of the aluminum inside the rez. Also, the liquid I put in the loop (not water based) is supposed to prevent corrosion between dissimilar metals.

legoman, while i dont question your skill, can i just say this.

If Swiftech's Military Spec Plated ApogeeGTX can corrode, there is no way in hell i would trust mixing alu in any project i do. Also im guessing you anodized it? it looks kinda silver/white, so it seems like you did put a layer of anodizing. If you didnt.. oh man... i'd pull it out. It will seriously give you more headache then its worth.

I suggest you keep a close eye on your loop, and be very careful.

I haven't researched Galvanic corrosion much, but I can say that I spilled a little of the Thermaltake Bigwater UV liquid when I first put together my Kandalf LCS. It wiped off like normal water.

After running the loop (copper block and aluminum radiator, I believe) for roughly a year, I spilled a little on my arm when disassembling it. It actually burned a little bit, which was enough to make me nervous. It wasn't horribly discolored, just a little bit darker.

Definately not a scientific proof, but I can say for sure I don't trust liquids that "prevent corrosion" in these loops.

I used an aluminum heater core in the same loop as a copper CPU block for >3 years with water wetter and did not experience any corrosion problems. We'll see.

One day, I'll build an all copper case.. and then I'll cry when it slowly starts looking like an old penny.

I will then post in ATOT asking its omniscient users where to buy online bulk Tobasco sauce. Like 10 gallons. I'd consider buying more if in their jury-like review they found that 10 gallons simply wasn't bulk.

BTW, good work on the case, it looks great :p

LOL, copper is too expensive to make an all copper case. my 2'x1' sheet was $26. And its not even strong.

Very nice work, I trust you keep a drill or battery driver in your desk!
Next time out if you want to try copper get some 20oz, with the proper bends it is quite strong. Trust me, I've done a little copper in my time.

Ok, ok... we all know the old Prescotts ran hot, but don't you think that's a little excessive?

Excessive? Oooh yeah,,, you should meet the folks that live in that thing.
I jest, they were A.O.K. in my book, really I felt bad for them. When they built that thing the concept was "green", energy and eco system-wise, well they used a spray on rubber at first and the bitch rotted from condensation from the inside out. They had to skin it and build another dome around the outside for strength. They had me do the copper skin as I guaranteed my work for life, mine or theirs whichever comes first.

I considered a copper case but aluminum is just a better choice. Copper will dent and scratch easily so it would need to be beaten and weathered first or else I'd go nuts cleaning and buffing.

Yep - reminds me of military gear in test stages. We call it the technical look. :)

ROFLMAO

Thats why you use mothers metal polish. Or canuba wax im hearing. It will leave a coat which will protect it from oxidation.

OR if worse comes to worse you can use ketchup. The vinegar will make it shine right back up.

Not a bad idea. I need to recoup some of the costs of building the machine. In the end it certainly cost more than I had originally intended.

edit: got a link to the contest on their site? I can't find it.
