building Server ---what board is the best - Supermicro 370DE6

Hi,

I was in the process of building a server for our web production firm, and was trying to figure out the best motherboard for the job. Definitely staying away from RDRAM boards because the cost just doesn not seem justifiable.

I've heard the Supermicro 370DE6 is a good choice, what about Tyan - do they have anything, or does anybody else have another recommendation.

going to set up dual PIII, pc133 ram

or maybe AMD, again what board

any help much appreciated...thanks

I've used the SuperMicro 370DL3 in a couple of servers. One for a webserver, and one for an Exchange server. I've had NO problems with the board and highly recommend it. Put an Adaptec 3200 64-bit raid card + 3 Seagate X15's and you'll have a VERY fast machine. One more thing...be VERY careful with the memory that you put in this board. It REQUIRES PC133 REGISTERED ECC memory. This is very hard to find and very expensive. I found it at www.mwave.com under Corsair memory.
