Building PC as you read this! Help, PSU Problem.

The Antec 510w PSU we are using has a connector that is too long for the connection it makes to the MSI K7D Master PSU hook up. What the heck?!

Is it ok for us to leave the extra 2 prongs just hanging off to the side or something?

The PSU said it was to work with this chipset and everything, dual MP 1900's.

Does anyone know what the remedy to this situation is?

We have the PSU that came with my case still, 300w, should we just go ahead and use it? Is that enough power for this kind of system, temporarily?

Please, any input is appreciated, we are literally sitting here waiting for a reply, occasionally hitting the F5 button. Thank you.

according to antec's website, their 510 watt PSU is made for the tyan thunder k7 mobo only

What they said. Tyan thunder K7 requires a 24 pin power connector your board requires an ATX power connector.

OK, I perused the online copy of the motherboard manual, please refer to page 2-10 it has the minimum specification:

300W
12V - 12A
5V - 35A
3.3 - 16A
5VSB - 2A
5V - 0A
-12V -0.5A

So if your 300w supply meets those specification you could give it a try. Of course depending on peripherals you may find that you are underpowered.

If you haven't already installed your cpu's you could always just install one temporarily until you can get a better PSU.
