hey,

I would like to know if this is a good full tower to buy to put up my rig? Would buy this one or the 8000 or 80003 one. I am looking to get an Intel quad-core chipset also but seeing this recommended for AMD, does this mean this would cause problems with the Intel?

I don't think so. What matters is that whether you have an ample space to work in. To be more precise, you should present what HSF you are going to go with.

i personally think the CM Stacker T01 is much better. Expecially since your interested in watercooling in the future.

Stacker on the left, Armor on the right:

When and if you do migrate to water, the CM Stacker will make work a ton of a lot easier for you.

The CM Stacker T01 is good but i was looking for something with a side window. Do you know any good full towers with a side window?

If I wanted a quick tower case with a window I'd end up with an Antec Nine Hundred.... although I think it's a mid-tower. Normally windows just aren't in factory full towers (which are rare in themselves).

Many of the resellers -- newegg, zipzoomfly, ewiz, svc, axiontech, infotechnow, spartantech just to name a few -- carry a wide assortment of cases including the Stackers and the Armor.

I'd prefer the Stacker (any sub-model) over the Armor case, but the Armor is a darn good case. Even so, for me, it's the ventilation and cooling potential that is a priority.

If you want "performance reviews" -- you only need to search the web for specific models.

Silverstone TJ-07? big, windowed, lighter than the Armor, great for watercooling (so I have read). Expensive, but could be worth it. Gonna be my next case for sure, using the Armor at the moment.

I 2nd the poster above. It's nice elegant and lets you have 2 PSU's in there tucked away in the bottom.

Oh, yeah! Let me revise -- to some extent -- my own preferences. I forgot about the Silverstone TJ-06.

Do I need to explain? That's got to be the most elegant and simple ducted cooling solution around . . .

Case: IF YOU WANT TO WATERCOOL IN THE FUTURE. This case will make it VERY VERY difficult. I highly recomend the CM Stacker, and you just MOD a window on it. Or buy the window seperate.
http://www.directron.com/spbs01e1.html

The TJ-07 guys is a bit WAYYYY OFF his budget, 279.99 vs 129-159. If thats the case, why not a MM U2 case 299.99+ or a Lian Li Modular Cube @ 349.99 + window option 59.99?

Board: AMP your board. Go with the TOP Tier if your budget is that large.
ASUS P5K-E, P5K-Delux, P5K-Premium, P5K Blitz or Gigabyte P35-DQ6, or P35-DS3P

Card: 8800GTS 320 286.74 - 30 rebate. It should fit in your budget
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/vie....hmx?scriteria=4273744

Memory: Look at Mwave.com Get the Crucial Ballastix PC6400 for 109 instead of That Gkill.

PSU: Antec Quattro 850W. http://www.provantage.com/antec-tpq-850~7ANTS02W.htm
A little warning about provantage. They take about 1-2(if your really really unlucky) weeks for your item to get to you. But its the cheapest you'll find it for.

Monitor: Cant comment on these because ive never used acer LCD's. Im in love with my gateways however. But mine are 24inches. Im running duals. Gateways i noticed are super bright compared to the other LCD's ive been running. Dell, Sony, HP, Samsung NEC. <--- Cheap NEC LCD's should be avoided. They totally BLOW.

Sound Card: Dont get it unless you know what your doing. You'll run into IRQ conflicts and have a PITA time to trouble shoot. If you do need a sound card, i recomend you getting one that costs more then 50 dollars, and you should really PM JAG87 about this. He seems to know all the best sound cards.

Software: Bleh, i dont like vista, but its all on you.

DVD Burners: are those SATA? i hope so.

Hard Drive: ????? for that kind of budget, i would look at RAID.

Cooling: Thermalaright Ultra120 Extreme. @ jab-tech.com
http://www.jab-tech.com/Therma...0-eXtreme-pr-3762.html

Fans: Yate-Loons DSH 86CFM @ jab-tech.com There dirt cheap and there near dead silent when you downvolt.
http://www.jab-tech.com/YATE-L...igh-Speed-pr-3771.html

Fan Controler: I guess you want bling? Because the temp probe wont really do anything for you in terms of monitoring something acurately. Most boards now have programs you can use to check motherboard temp, and cpu board area temp. And if your running a C2Q, then you can use programs like coretemp to monitor even more accurately what your CPU is at. But if you just want the bling:
http://www.jab-tech.com/Sunbea...ll-Silver-pr-3145.html

However, if you just want nice fan controlers which is cheap,
http://www.jab-tech.com/Sunbea...it-Silver-pr-2529.html

Hands down the best fan controler ive used so far. :D

OH, op, the onboard sound on recient boards like the top tier ones i listed have 7.1 channel. So if your thinking about the sound card because you think you need it, dont bother. You wont hear the difference unless your running really good speakers.

Also most if not all boards that you get now come with nic integrated. So i doubt you'll need the nic card unless you run wireless. If thats the case, look at the asus which have built in wireless. If your running an N1 network, then you'll need to get that card which matches your router for best performance.

i would look at the lian li series. the lower end which prices range from 90-120. There fairly professional looking and are built really nice.

FOr a cheaper solution i like the CM Centurion. The Pretorian isnt a bad case either for its price, but its heavy as hell.

The Armor is not a mid tower, its a full tower. If you want to get into mid towers, first see how much all your internal parts will cost, and then fill in the left overs on the case.

The case is the last thing that you should really be worried about in overclocking. You can always leave the side pannel off to control temps and put it back on during the winter. If your budget permits, my favorate is the TJ-09 but its VERY pricey. Also i dont think it comes with a side window. But the case is absolute top notch.
