Hey every1
I am building a new system, its been about a year and half since i did my last box. I am posting a list of the hardware for review. I would appreicate: 1) anyones known issues with compatibility of the compoents i have selected, 2) thoughs of improvements/changes, 3) general thoughts of system. You can also rate the system on the poll.

You can click this direct link to a NEWEGG.com list of parts (and from that get detailed specs)

Looks very nice to me. Personally I'd go with the OCZ RAM because I was disappointed with my PC4000 Corsair XMS (2x512 MB) in terms of its performance at stock settings and its ability to overclock.

If you can afford it I would look to the Asus A8N-SLI Premium (not Deluxe) Many ne and additional features including silent but cool (temp wise) Heatpipe chipset cooler, bios ajustable PCIe/SLI setting (no flippable card needed) High overclocker (>300 has been reached), and rear port SATA connector. To look up specs i would go to their gloabal site (last i checked it hadn't made it to the US site even though people are selling it).

Instead of the Crappy Pioneer DVD burner you could go with a Plextor 716A or SA (SA is SATA) which is my personal favorite, It comes with both White and Black faceplates to fit your color.

I am a Fan of the T7k250 from Hitachi. Its is one of the fastest drives out there and farely cheap at New egg. But becareful while even the 7k250 is faster then the seagate their is a huge difference between that and the t7k250.

Thanks for the suggestions and ideas guys 🙂 its helping alot. I hate building new systems, so many choices you have to pick from.

To the DVD issue, i am looking over the "just release" DVD round up on the main page. I am likeing the BenQ drive. I might order it out of Europe if it doesn't show up soon. I plan to have 2 DVD burner drives. I will probably order the NEC first, and then decide on the second drive.

To the Processor suggestion: the toledo core 4400 is nice, the dual 1MB cache is a good thing, but its 200 bucks more... I will consider it. I plane to order the processor as one of the last items.

UPDATE: i am looking at going with a XP-90 cooler, or the Thermaltake CL-P0114 120mm. Either one i go with i will be purchaseing a Delta Fan. The noise level is not a concern for me.

These purchases will be made over a 3 to 4 week period.

Keep the advice flowing. I can't wait to build the system and post some benchmarks for everyone. Though i know it wont be the best, it will be alteast good hehe.

Krn, thats a good idea but i am nVidia bias hehe. I always get nVidia cards, and AMD processors... unless something major major happened in the cpu/gpu world where intel was somehow accutlly beating amd badly and for alot cheaper i'd always get amd.... same with nVidia over ati.

Thanks for the idea though 🙂 and looking out for me to say a lil green

- OCZ RAM. No two ways about it. Excellent performance, excellent support, absolutely perfect.
- Audigy 2 Platinum. No point wasting your money on the A4.
- Upgrade to a 4400+ if you can. The added L2 cache will help with multitasking.
- Drop down to the 7700-AlCu. You lose about 2% performance, and it's MUCH lighter. The 7700-Cu is a liability to your whole system.
- Get an ATI card. If your budget allows it, get the X850XT. If not, get the X800XL. ATI > nVidia in the midrange category.

DECISION FOR SYSTEM
thanks to everyone for thier input so far:
as it stands this is what i have decided now.
I am getting OCZ RAM, and i am going with the 4400+ X2 w/ 2x1mb cache CPU and the Audigy 2 Plat. For cooling i am going with a XP-90 and a Delta 92mm fan moveing 110cfm of air... that should be enough to keep it cool. And noise isn't a factor.

In term sof video card: i usually am an nVidia man (they are just who i like supporting and the cards i know) i'll look into the x850 though.

I am in a debate over MOBOs right now... getting the MSI Neo4 or ASUS A8N-SLI Premium.

Get the Asus

Pice difference is only 30-40 dollars. I wouldn't worry about the memory. But i would agree with Furby a 7800GTX is a wonderful card and is highly recommened.

Edit: as a mentioned earlier go with the Asus Premium, Teh MSI is tempting because of the onboard Creative (i think it is a live) but My roommate ended up throwing his old Live Value PCI card in because of problems with the integrated one (acted up alot and had no quality difference then normal integrated just used less CPU cycles (which you will have lots to spare)).

I have always planned to go with an Audigy2 Card the nice ZS plat.

CrimsonCutie, the spec are great! but I think you should get 7800GTX and ASUS Premium which can improve your speed after overclock, that what I just heard on internet. I would rate 5 if you get that video card and mobo.
