i've been thinking about putting up this rig since december and will definitely get it up and running by the end of january. i'm using it for dvd, cd writing and some moderate to heavy gaming. please examine and comment.

here are the initial, if not final, specs:
ECS K7S5A SiS735 - think i should go for k7s6a if it performs good?
Athlon XP 1700+ w/ stock fan
256MB DDRRAM - not sure. probably will go for 512 if the price is right.
40GB Seagate Barracuda
Leadtek GF2 GTS 32mb ddr with tv-out - temp card.
Lite-On or ASUS 16x DVD drive
Enlight 7237 w/ 340watt PSU
Yamaha CRW3200 24x cdrw
Sony 1.44 Floppy Disk Drive
SB Live! 5.1 - already have it
Creative Inspire 5300 5.1

IMHO I would go for a cheap Kt266a board right now (my gigabyte kt266a has been solid as a very solid thing since I bought it about three months ago. Also, as far as vid cards go I wouldn't bother buying a gts as a temporary vid card, you'd probably be better of going for a cheap ti200 or maybe even a radeon 8500 (if you can stomach the driver issues). Other than that it looks pretty damn fine.
