i like it. i have the 3520 and an artec dvd-rom, its nice having both. its only $20.

just beware with monarch combos alot are not coming pretested and flashed to the latest bios so you probably want to get the 3.10 or later bios on a floppy.

edit--if it was me, i would double check their tim application anyway. i wouldn't take a chance myself. not bashing monarch, just imo.

i dunno, just seems to be an issue as of late. alot more i'm sure are fine but its better to be prepared, no?

either way, i'd never trust a hsf application after shipping x amount of miles. only makes sense to yank it and make sure before you fry it.l

Yeah, I agree. Besides, thermal paste application isn't that tricky when you're dealing with a processor that has a heat spreader, such as the A64.

If stability is your main priority, you should at least consider getting a Mac. You can't afford much, with only a $700 budget, but you do have a few options:

$652.38 -- Mac Mini; G4 1.25 GHz; 256MB DDR333; 80GB HDD; DVD burner
$652.38 -- Mac Mini; G4 1.25 GHz; 512MB DDR333; 40GB HDD; DVD burner
$700.19 -- Mac Mini; G4 1.25 GHz; 512MB DDR333; 80GB HDD; DVD burner
$710.81 -- Mac Mini; G4 1.42 GHz; 256MB DDR333; 80GB HDD; DVD burner

Granted, two of those configurations are slightly over budget, but seeing them might help lend perspective.

i think im not goning to go with the 800xl i agree i dont need it so im not going to get it. as for the mac sugestion i would love to get a mac over a PC but the mac i wasnt is $2000 dual G5. but thats not going to happen. thanks for the sugestions.

o well i have decided to go with the neo4 i no its a little more expensive but im willing to pay for it because i dont need the OCing features and i pure STABILTY. im still trying to decide if i should get the combo or jus put it together myself? is it hard to put a retail HSF on? i dont want to mess anything up. thanks

putting the computer together should be really easy. the only hard part i find is all those front case LED/ ON/Reset Switch headers. Everything else is a simple plug it in. the retail hsf is pretty easy to put on, but i remember the first time the lever was a bit annoying, as you had to use some force to get it to lock
