Building a new computer and would appreciate some feedback.

These are things that I have picked out and will order unless you guys have
have any better suggestions.

Case - Aspire X-Dreamer 2 (Black) [ Link ]
Motherboard - CHAINTECH nForce3 250 Chipset Motherboard [ Link ]
Processor - AMD Athlon 64 3000+ [ Link ]
Memory - Corsair Value Select 512MBx2 [ Link ]
Hard Drive - Western Digital Special Edition 80GB [ Link ]
CD Drive Lite-On Combo Drive (Black) [ Link ]

Things that I have currently. (Parts from my current Computer)
Antec 400 PSU
eVGA 6800NU
SBlive! value
Boston 2.1 Digital Speakers
19inch Diamondtron Monitor

I'm really trying to keep price below $600 and the setup above is around that price
range. If you guys could look over the MB, MEM, CPU etc. and let me know if those
are good choices or if I should change some stuff I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Looks like a pretty good setup, I'm getting the same Lite-on combo drive for my computer (based on an AOpen EZ18 SFF from Newegg). You might be able to find slightly cheaper ram if you went with one stick of 1GB, but the difference is only a few bucks. You could find a cheaper case, especially if you already have a psu, but that's up to you. A case is like a set of clothes, everyone has there own style. My budget is about the same, but I wanted Nforce2 IGP based system so I could play alot of games without having to buy a graphics card right away, and I wanted something portable.

i find corsair ram overpriced. the motherboard has onboard sound, so you wont need that card. nice vid card. seagate drives are quieter and cooler, so i'd get one of those instead. also DO NOT SKIMP ON RAM. Geil ddr pc4400 is great stuff, well worth the extra money, as you will not have to upgrade that stuff for a LONG time and it will allow for higher speeds at tighter timngs. aluminum cases are better (lighter and dont rust away in a few years), but get whatever you like on that. congrats for not being a n00b and chosing intel

That case appears to be utter garbage, from what many ATers have said and comments made on Newegg's site. IMO you can't go wrong with Antec, but other makers have some nice cases as well, particularly Lian Li and Raidmax, from what I've read. The rest of it looks pretty good. You might want to use onboard sound rather than that SB Live! card.
