Oh and about the GF3, after reading a review at Got Apex? I'll have to say that the MORPHEUS is looking alot better, though it's $7 more and harder to find. Not to mention it comes in a wooden box. 😀

I would get the Western Digital 40GB 400BB 7200RPM.
Downgrade to the 1.33GHz Athlon OEM + HS/Fan (cheaper), But that's just me.
As far as fans go I would get 4 80mm Quiet Sunon's check out www.2cooltek.com

Hmmm... not really. I haven't noticed any difference running Win2K and Win98 for gaming. All games run full frame rate (60fps 1024x768x32) with ease. Plus you get stability, what more do ya want! 😀 What could be better? I say Ditch 98.

Apple, i'm much in the same boat as you and building a very similar system on a very similar budget (except i need speakers and a moniter). I'm also deciding between win2k and win98se. How much would win2k cost for me to purchase to put on my new system and would it be worthwhile for 512 DDR ram?

I updated my list, the cheapest Win2k I could find was from MWave($145 w/ hardware purchase). Bestbuy wanted $200 just for the upgrade. :Q

haha only 60? i get 90 to 100 easy but then thats me

No! I said "with ease". I lock the vsync at 60hz with online games. There is no point in running 100+ fps.

🙂, just curious, why do you pay for the OS?

your consience or you have MS inspectors rally around to check systems in ppls. homes, if they are paid for?

Why not borrow and burn your friends CD and install both (dual boot) and save some cash for games?

Maybe this sounds dumb to you, but here in Hungary 97% of OS and sofware used are not paid for (especially the home user).

P.S: Psssssst.

Edit: before any hyporats here condem me, make sure you swear that you have never use napster in your life or any craked software.

Well, I could get a warezed version. But wouldn't they have to verify my system if I wanted to get updates or something? $145 is an awful lot. 😀

Windows Update works without a hitch, whether you've got a warezed copy running or legit... so no worries there, if that's your concern.

That was my concern, thank you. 🙂

<< coolerguys.com has the IBM deskstar 60gxp 40gig for 119.95, add about 7 for shipping. >>

It doesn't appear to be retail though. Thanks though. 🙂

I didn't think OEM came with a manual, I guess I was mistaken? What kind of cables does the OEM not come with?
