dump that low latency RAM. latencies mean jack sh!t. that should give you en extra $100 to improve something else.

Get a NEC-3500a or the new one 3520 I think it is. They are awesome. And about 70 bucks. Speakers get either Klipsch Ultra 5.1 or Logitech Z-5500. Video card i'd get an eVGA 6800 Ultra but that BFG is fine.

Those HDD will be fine but Hitachi also makes a very nice 250gb harddrive. I don't see why you need three. I'd just get two 250gb Hitachi or get one Seagate 400gb. Make sure you get the Audigy ZS Plat.

That ram will be fine you could also check out OCZ or Crucial too. On the motherboard the ABIT AV8 would be a good choice too. The boards are exactly the same almost. The Abit is 100 bucks shipped. There are very few differences

Can get a good crt 19 for around 1/2 the price of an LCD just depends on what you want. Seagates are quietest HD's I have experienced. Keyboard and tower is so up to you and what you want. ZipZoomFly/Directron/Newegg/Monarch try them all.

NEC-3500a is the DVD writer?

I need 7.1 for the speakers, does Klipsch make them?

eVGA 6800 Ultra? Is eVGA the name?

Those HDD will be fine but Hitachi also makes a very nice 250gb harddrive. I don't see why you need three. I'd just get two 250gb Hitachi or get one Seagate 400gb. Make sure you get the Audigy ZS Plat.

I will go with SATA for the drives. But I can only get two to hook up to the Asus A8V-Deluxe K8T800 MB

I want to keep the HDD seperate. The OS HDD can be 30-40 GB.

Is not the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro PCI Sound Card a ZS platform?

I guess it does not matter on the MB, but which RAM is the best for either MB?

I dont really think there is a so-called "best." Just go with Corsair/Kingston/Mushkin/Crucial/OCZ and get what you want.

I'd switch out the evil Audigy 4 and put in a Chaintech AV-710. And get the NEC ND-3500A for the DVD burner. If you're near a CompUSA, you might still be able to pick up the Antec P160 case. It uses two 120mm fans for ventilation. It doesn't come with a power supply though, so pick-up one of these from the list. http://www.anandtech.com/guide...c.aspx?i=2282&p=10

Your list with some comments:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 Socket 939 3200+

MB: Asus A8V-Deluxe K8T800

RAM: DDR PC3200 1GB x 2 Corsair LL 2-3-2-6 try value RAM

VIDEO CARD: BFG Technologies GEFORCE 6800 ULTRA OC 256MB DDR3 AGP8X try a GT

DVD BURNER: PIONEER 16X DVR-A08XLA NEC 3500/3520?

SOUND CARD: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro PCI Sound Card Overkill? An A2 ZS should be fine, or an AV710 if you're simply looking for better music quality.

SPEAKERS: Creative Giga Works 7.1 S750 Does 7.1 really offer that much more than 5.1 at the moment? Something to consider that I'd be interested in knowing about as well.

MONITOR: ??? 19" LCD or larger ??? Or is there a great CRT that is better??? for CRTs, look at NEC Diamondtrons; for LCDs, Samsungs and Dells seem pretty good, but you can probably find optimal specs for gaming more easily in 17" LCDs

HDD 1: OS SEAGATE ??? If you go with 3 drives, get them in whatever capacities you need and whatever flavor (IDE/SATA) you prefer
HDD 2: GAMING SEAGATE ???
HDD 3: VIDEO CAPTURE SEAGATE ???

KEYBOARD: Doesn't really matter--pick what you want

CASE: FULL TOWER??? TT Sharks are supposed to be okay for full towers, but with only three hard drives you're unlikely to need that big--my Antec SLK3700AMB mid-tower's HD rack has five spaces. Consider a file server case from Antec or somebody.

My computer room is set up for 7.1. Already have wiring installed.

Do you have a 7.1 speaker system and audio card that will work?

Both of the other sound cards I mentioned are 7.1. As for a good 7.1 speaker set, I have no idea.

The reason I will go with a Full tower CASE is for the 4 HDD and 2 DVD ROM/BURNER. The Audigy 4 is so I can have external sound card for easier audio hook ups.

Not obsessed with SEAGATE. I have been compiling information for the last half month and the SEAGATE HDD were the recommended drive overall. Other than the Western Digital 74 GB RAPTOR drive.

I do not plan on overclocking but I want a great gaming computer. I also need plenty of RAM for photoshop editing. I will also be doing VIDEO CAPTURE and DVD BURNING.

This thread looks interesting on a users new computer rig. How does this add up to what I am trying to do?

ok, on the cpu make sure you get a winchester core, as they are built using the 90nm process, use less watts, produce less heat and OC best of all. you are looking for a full tower case? I have my eye on this one http://www.newegg.com/app/view...=11-129-120&depa=1]clicky[/url]
the research I've done speaks highly of the NEC you've already been told about, either that or a Samsung
I agree with the Seagate HD, otherwise the research I've done speaks highly of the Samsung HD's
Klipsch is definitely a speaker you should consider if you don't mind spending the money
and for the socket 939 memory is very important, dual channel ram--if my research I find the OCZ platinum ram to offer very good performance for teh socket 939
as far as mobo, I've heard some folks have trouble with the MSI boards. why don't you look into the Epox boards. they perform very well, are reasonably priced and OC like demons if you're into that. Or, perhaps you'd also be happy with the Soltek brand, they offer consumer support that I think you'd be very happy with. I'm not sure if they OC as well as the Epox, but they do OCdecent at least. just which ever board you choose make sure you get a nforce chipset. VIA sucks, and SIS is in between

The most quiet (and easily available) 3.5" drives are the Samsung Spinpoint drives, or Seagate Baracuda 7200.7 drives. The Samsungs make less noise than the Seagates.
