I put them all in my cart now and the total comes to like $1160.

Potato, I think if you have $1300-ish to spend, The Pentium Guy's pick would be a very good place to start from rather than modifying your system.

You might have to cut down on something though if you have to buy windows....

Maybe get a cheaper Antec case/psu combo...
cut the DVD burner down to a cd burner if you don't think you'll be burning dvds...
skip a soundcard and use integrated sound (maybe still spend $140 and get Logitech z-5300s or something)

EDIT: I wrote that before Pentium updated his info and made that new list.

If you need to get windows and your budget is tight, I'd say skip the Audigy2 for now and add in a soundcard later if you think you want one.

Bah! I forgot about windows.
If you need windows: Skimp on the keyboard and mouse (spend maybe $40 instead of $70, so save $30) and get an Audigy 2 instead of an Audigy 2-ZS (Save $20).

So you save $50 and bring the total down to $1233. Windows is $90 right? Heh..... Not too sure what you need to cut down on. But your system'll be $1320 instead of $1300 if that's ok with your budget.

but... but... that's not a Celeron 820D

EDIT: sorry, the 820 is not a Celeron. I kept reading Intel 820D from another thread and didn't know if it was a Pentium or a Celeron. I knew there was a Celeron D so I thought they were related.

If I offended anyone, I hope you accept my apology.

Wtf?

http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=27&threadid=1639397&enterthread=y

you just had to bring that up did you?

Yeah, I guess I did.

The Pentium Guy already has a nice system spec for Potato though already, so I guess I don't feel too bad if things get ugly.

I was already a little helpful in this thread I believe.

I'm sorry if the 820D is not a Celeron. I had to look in your thread before about what you kept going on and on about but didn't seem to back it up with anything (although I stopped reading it so you may have redeemed yourself).

You seem to be the one that stirs up trouble in threads. (although thinking back it was probably not a good idea to make any comments acknowledging you said anything)

Nothing's wrong with helping me... I guess you didn't like my little joke.

For your info- I have Duran A (1.6), had it for long time. I came here first asking 4 help on my new AMD setup(939). Then I became interested in Intel's 820D because it was new and I thought if I am upgrading why not go for the gusto(w/ budget). But then U and a few others started harassing. If u were in my shoe u see why I was upset.
I thought u and others could help me in both setups(AMD/Intel). But I found it the hard way- none of u (w/ some exceptions)are interested in helping anyone w/ Intel setup. Probably u don?t know much about Intel since u are a one sighted AMD user.
enough said. Lets not sidetrack here and try to stay w/ topic for potato.

So you don?t agree that AMD's comparison chart misrepresenting?
Where do u see Intel do the same? I like to know so I can bring it to everyone's attention.
As I said- U and so many here are AMD's "poster child" and not willing to be objective.
what a shame for anadtech, u people luring new members to AMD camp.

ever heard of advertsiement? and the fact that most of those are true and proven? you posted a horrific thread two days ago that has all the reasons to your continuous bickering and then you started the one you quoted before me. like i said, get that lovely intel of yours, go away. why are you still around here trying to explain things we already know? no point trying to help you anymore.

The only comment I made in that thread was about you thinking that most users were running 64-bit windows.

I admit to not knowing much about Intel systems because I have never built one and in the time frame I've been building computers (only about 4 years) I haven't seen anything from Intel that has gotten me interested.
I have recommended Intel systems in the past when I think they would be appropriate.
I think the majority of users come here hoping to build a system for gaming and AMD has consistently been great in that area.

I'll shut up about this now too.

Sorry for any hard feelings.

EDIT: oh, and please try to figure out the quote button... I had to go back and edit what you said so that it was clear who said what.

i would try to re-explain everything to him, but that would just be repeating what everyone else posted in his 820d thread.
