Building dedicated Lan Pary Machine. HDD Choice...

I'm putting together a dedicated LAN party machine so I can play modern games, at good frame rates, and not have to lug around/disconnect my main rig.

I have a question as to hard drives. Around my place I fond laying around, a 80GB Western Digital WD800JB 8MB 7200 RPM drive, and I also found a couple new Hitachi Deskstar 82.3GB HDS728080PLAT20 drives. (7200RPM, 2MB). Which would geive me the best gaming performance? the single 80Gig, or if I put the hitachis in RAID-0 (All drives IDE)

Also the deskstars were manufactured in April 2005, so I'm pretty confident they are not the "Deathstar" models...

Thanks..

I thought about a shuttle, or even that freaking sweet Silverstone SST-SG01-B case, but I'm on a really tight budget for a while, and just want to use parts I already have laying around.... the only part I will need to purchase is a Vid card... I don't think my spare FX5200 has the juice required for any games I play anymore.

So you think that even RAID-0 won't make up for the 2MB cache of the hitachi drives?

I'd stick with the WD drive...

lol sure! Bring the  and I'll supply the HDD's 😛

You'd probably be sick if you saw all the computer crap I've got just laying around in closets at my apartment collecting dust. I've been slacking in my eBay efforts 🙁

Ok the thot plickens now... I just unearthed a Seagate 7200.7 120GB 2MB drive as well...... Would the WD still perform the best of the group?
