Building Custom Phone/Headset Dock?

I want to have some kind of unit/rack/docking station that holds my 2 phones and 2 headsets.

I was thinking about just getting some wood and cutting a couple holes in the back of it and somehow place the phones inside the unit so it stands upright and doesn't scratch anything.

Anyone ever make a custom unit like this before? Any suggestions?

Sounds like a good idea. Like you said cut slots into the wood for the phones to sit. Even mount the charging cable in there so the phone can charge. You'll just have to remove the locking part of the charge cable so that you can slide the phone in and out easily. I've seen projects where people have built a some what universal docking station. Where a surge protector is built into a box. All the charge cables are plugged in and out of site leaving only the connectors showing and giving your devises a nice felt bed to sit on.

Anyone else have any comments about doing a project like this?

My desk gets so cluttered when I have 5 phone related units sitting on it (I have one other headset for the land line phone that sits on my desk, so yeah.. brings it to a grand total of 5).

That's another good idea, and probably a better way of doing it than I was thinking. Basically, you will build the piece of wood to fit on top of your desk. Then you place the power strip at the bottom, then a layer of foam above that, then you can cut out part of the foam to have the chargers reach the electronic item.

Originally I was thinking that I would just mount something to the side of my desk and have the phones and such vertical, I think this other way is much better.
